Hi popped along to forge the other day and picked up a tip for the leon,:D
whilst i was there i asked one of the sales guys what honestly was the point in the cold side relocation kit and to my surprise he replied (honestly which i liked) that there wasnt much point at all.
this surprised me what with it being near 100 quid
chap just said that there were no performance gains whatsoever and the main point of it was that it was for people who have ignored all the advise about dump valves and stuck a whooshy one on and therefore wanted to move the whooshy valve closer to the front of the car so people could here it more.

My point being have any of you fitted this so called pointless kit and if you have do you think it has made any difference to anything?

i was very keen on getting one of these but i dont want to waste 100 big ones.

Ha Ha have we been here before?

wasnt really too bothered if it does naf all, just dont think its right if people are paying all that money for something that they think is genuinally helpfull.

Once a week, at least. Have a search for various combinations of cold side, DV relocation etc etc.

had a search but no one seems to be able to give a yes its good or no its crap.

just seemed odd imo the bloke at forge is saying is does bugger all and hes the one selling them.

By relocating the valve in this way there are two benefits. Firstly, due to operating in lower temperatures the longevity of the valve is increased. Secondly, after relocation, the air that is recirculated back into the intake tract to the turbo will be cooler. Cooler air has a greater density. The greater the density of the charge mix in the cylinder the more power generated on combustion.

If that helps any...

thanks, maybe worth getting if it helps with the life of the valve.

Oh for sure... it might make it last 10 years instead of 9, it will still need servicing from time to time though. Would be cheaper to buy a replacement DV.

I fitted one last week
I think the trottle responce is better but cant be 100% sure as did change the TIP at the same time.
But it does look good. It clears abit of room at the top of the bay as it starts to get a little cramped up there

The two main benefits are you are moving the valve away from burning hot air and it will run much cooler (so will be less prone to any problems such as sticking or heat expansion causing boost loss), plus the air you are re-circulating back to the intake is cold not hot.

hiya im new to this all but i have the relocation kit and it makes my splitter sound alot better and louder than before. Dont think it improves speed at all to original position but is colder and looks cool with blue pipes around the engine. go for it lifes too short.

id ditto that and ive got a tip and all the boost hosing done too

Think about it?

Upper turbo hoses for LCR is £103.95 +Vat This kit and the other hose is £148.95 +Vat - so getting this kit and the other pipe only works out to be £50 more :D

So this kit is only really £50 :D

Logic.... or somin like that  I have all this on order and a TIP - £320 on hose ... could have got a Asus 8800 GTS :(
