That was just a minor problem, i mean with the lowering, should have been slammed on saturday but ended up leaving with my car nearly 2 inches higher than what it was when it went in :(

FFS! That's my car off the road for a week (or till I find a new caliper!) Went to paint the calipers, thought it'd be nice to take them off to paint, less hassle, proper job 'n' all... The top pin came out no problem, (the two bolts you loosen to gain access to pads) the bottom one, has snapped! And the pin is still inside the caliper! :blink: Mk2s for you!

Hi boys and girls! Well I'm in the middle of fitting new 280 Lucas brakes. My splash guards had disintegrated! (More pics / Big update soon! :))

Now I'm stumped, car's off the road while I do this, so taking it for heating up at a garage is out of the question. The bolt is less than 10mm in length, but it's one stubborn b@ast@rd!! [:@]

Any ideas?;
(As you can see, tried cutting it making a flat head out of the head. No luck!)

A bit of elbow grease you slacker.

I remember when you spent 10 mins trying to get a screw out of your door card, then I did it in 10 seconds.

But yay you got brakes :love:

Yeah well, care is needed you see, unlike you, you hooligan! :p

Thanks M1keh! Flattened it, just need to get myself a re-tapping drill bit cutter thingy now.

Little reply prior to fitting. Got the calipers yesterday! (Finally!) and gave them a lick of paint today after work. Still need another few coats, I'm unsure of the finish at the moment, although it is decent Hammerite paint;

Splash guards, old vs new. (Shocking I know! (Finished with 3 coats of lacquer for extra protection));

Carriers fitted, waiting patiently for everything else to arrive;

Decided to do a blank (non GTi) grill in gloss black too;

More to come...

Llyr, have you gone for 280mm calipers and discs? if so, you mind me asking where and how much you paid for them please? looking very ocd fantastic as always ;)

Cheers! I know Suj, it's kinda marmitey I know. But you'll be pleased to know that I have a spare of everything. Grill / rear plate and badge etc (the original ones).

Phil, not that much tbh! Carriers and calipers cost as much as the discs and pad combo I went for, so it wasn't that bad. And the carriers are brand new, and so are the calipers, well, they were owned before, but have never known what it's like to be on a car :)
