I did mine a couple of days ago, and it's probably the best mod I've done on the car so far!

How did you know you had to earth it? I just got the cable, no fitting instructions or anything. I was gutted as I'd just paid seat to get my radio code and thought I'd wasted my money getting it decoded when id have to go buy myself a new head unit to use my ipod!
Are the pins numbered on the back of the unit? Im not brilliant with electrical things!

Can you do the same thing but with a usb wire?

Short answer, no. You'd need an aftermarket HU

Cos, i'm glad someone on this forum has enough knowledge on how the search feature works! I would have done it myself, but was just waiting to see how long it would take the rest

You pick up a trick or two after trawling through multiple forums and racking up far too many posts! Having no life basically haha

Looping it around the screw didnt work for mine. I ended up using insulation tape to tape it to the back of the head unit next to the screw instead and it works a treat. I figured it would be better quality than a radio transmitter but I didnt realise it would be this good! Definately one of the best value for money modifications you can do!

does the alana radio need a mounting bracket to slot it in to the dash?
my ibiza came with a sony unit in it but it has a dodgy cd player so after seeing that you can create an aux for the alana im going back to standard. so juat wondering does the alana unit need a mounting bracket or is this just for aftermarket headunits?

no brackets needed, alana headunit will slot straight in. as long as its the stereo that was in the car from factory ie. not a leon radio or something obviously

If I do this mod will it work with my iPhone ??? Stupid question I know.. If it does I might put my alana stereo back in and sell my single din DVD stereo what I got a 2 weeks ago.. :(

It comes with a standard 3.5mm jack, so it would just plug in the headphone socket.

You won't be able to change track via the headunit though, only on the ipod/phone thing

Mine didn't come with the green wire coming from pin 13. Did everybody else's?
