I tried these on my car earlier on in the year, and are the worst tyres i have ever bought. In the dry they were ok, but in the wet, IMHO they were ****. And as for the tyre ware :-o what an absolute ****, after about 3-4k the sidewalls on the front passanger side, well, it had worse the tread off the sides, so you couldnt tell where the top of the tyre started or anything. I bought them over yokohama pradas aswell as they had the same rating in dry performance, but wet was slightly better. Deffinataley not getting them again, think i will go for the pradas next time round.

Probably you tried the wrong Potenza's then:p .
I had the S02 and they were far superior then the Dunlop's SP9000.
The RE050A PP are one of the best tires available.

Check this link and compare all other tires with the top series of Bridgestone :

Turanza is sh*t too...i'm only speaking of the Potenza series.
Potenza is used on very expensive sports cars like Porsche,Nissan Skyline,....

Oh well

I only speak of my own experience.
I always thought the Dunlop SP9000 was such a good tire but then I tried the Potenza S02 Pole Position and the grip was so much better. Were the dunlops start squeaking in a bend the bridgestones kept on going.

A couple of friends of mine have skylines gtr. They use them also for dragracing and they swear on Bridgestone. They have the RE01 R

My HR-V came with Turanza ... awful lousy tyres especially in the wet. The Leon has the last of a murdered set of Potenza RE040 on the fronts and they will be ditched in January for either Toyo T1S or Goodyear Eagle GSD3.

Potenzas are fine in the dry but they just don't seem that keen in the wet.

Again...you had the wrong potenza's then:bleh:

My S02 were very good in dry AND wet ;)

Yes but unless i can find Potenza S02 for the same price as i can get Toyo / Goodyear for then it's a 'no brainer'.

Just checked and in my size the S02 is nearly 28 quid more a tyre :) I would prefer to go with something that a lots of people have tried and tested - hence Toyo or Goodyear.

It's a shame Seat didn't fit 'decent' tyres in the first place - the volume they buy in it wouldn't cost much extra i'm sure!

That's true...Bridgestone is expensive but i'm willing to give a little more for a good tire.

I'm also totally not happy with the standard fitted tires ....Dunlop SP2000....on a FR:wtf:

When I was looking for my current tyres, I was set on Eagle F1s but after reading a few reviews I soon changed my mind.
There were quite a few stories about the F1s not being as good as they used to be (poor quality, less grip etc). Apparently the place of production changed? Not sure how true this is?

Just to throw a couple of other ideas into the pot - has anyone tried the Kumho Ecsta Sports? Vredestein Hi-Tracs or Sportracs?

I had the Kumho's and the Vredestein Hi-Tracs on my last car and they were great. The Vredesteins are good in the dry and great in the wet, but are quite hard to get hold of. They look pretty good too. Not sure if you can get them in the larger sizes though, so Sportrac's should cover these. The Hi-Tracs lasted 44k miles. They won AutoExpresses tyre test a couple of yrs on the trot.
The Kumho's were great tyres too and very predictable if they did slide. I don't think they are quite as good in the wet as the Vred's but probably a bit better in the dry.

Both tyres are good value, coming in cheaper than Pirelli/Bridgestone/Michelin etc.

Another vote for Toyo T1-Rs here, used them on the Ibiza and now the Passat, very pleased with them and at a decent price too.

The T1-R has much improved wear rates over the T1-S I believe.

My Ibiza had Turanzas from new and they were rubbish, only plus point is they seemed to last forever, until they succumbed to the Ibiza Mk4's "Inner Edge Excessive Wear" feature.

Mine had worn down so there were holes through the carcass.
A proper alignment job sorted it though.
