Well basically my gearbox is dead and partially because of the good old jolly powerflex dogbone mount I installed about a month or 2 ago due the fact the powerflex mount doesnt absorb much vibration from the gearbox my gearbox has managed to vibrate itself and crack the casing where the dogbone bolts to the gearbox resulting in a gearbox death!! Also if you do install an uprated mount on the dogbone check your gearbox oil level frequently incase of leeks.

i own the 1.4, without sounding like too much of an idiot, is the gearbox seperate? how do i check the oil level in it?

How about the over tightening of the mount causing a crack? Whats your gearbox code?

I think you might need to rethink your original post, as there is no way a stiffer bush is gonna crack cast metal, not just vibrations anyway.

Iv had mine on for over a year, no problems, and im sure others have.

I would like to apologise about the original post I was mistake it's turned out after taking the box out that it's the common fault with the dif rivets being blown through the clutch housing casing which has then cracked parts of the box including around the thread for the dogbone.
You check the oil level in the box by removing the 27mm allen key plug in the end of the box and checking the fluid is not much below the bottom of the thread of the plug
