OK folks, here we go! My HID bulbs would not fit into the projectors, so I took the new lights back off and proceeded to pull them apart! I knew I could make the angel eye effect far better too.

So they went in the oven - yes the oven! Heat to 100 degrees for about 10 mins, switch off and after about another 10 mins put the headlight in the oven with the door open for another 10 mins, this softens the rubber adhesive and allows you to crack them open without damaging them - worked a treat!

Dismantled them, took a Dremel to the bulb holes - HID bulbs now fit and all debris is cleaned out ( I took the projectors apart), now onto the angel eyes! I got some flexible white LED light strips that can be linked together with supplied cables, so only one power cable is needed to light up two rings.

Fitted into the angel eye part of the inner housing, the result is this:

WOW - very bright, even in this daytime shot! I quite like the studded effect of the LED's rather than the ghey BMW smooth rings, with all four lit like this they will look awesome! I'll do a double ring shot in the dark tonight.

I have one more effect to try, but so far I am liking this alot!!!

I also now know that after taking them apart that the two screws behind the projectors do adjust the beam - the top screw moves the projector up and down, the lower screw moves it left to right, so should be totally fine for RHD use.

I was actually thinking of having the inner bit sprayed in my bodycolour - metallic blue - you think that would look good?

"Where did you get the flexible white LED light strips from????"

Aha ... tell you once mine are complete, can't give all my secrets away can I! ;)

black is the best i think, but possible a metlic silver just to pic them out? Blue would look good, trouble is not 100% you would notice it, which is a good thing as its subtle. You going to smooth them down?

The units look very good quality tho

Hey Rob,

Why exactly didn´t the H1´s fit? Was it because of the HID kit you ordered or was because of the headlamps?

I´m worried because Patrick told me that HID´s will fit no problem!

The bulb holes were too narrow for the HID bulbs - remember HID bulbs have an electrode running the length of the bulb - I had to dismantle the projectors and use a Dremel to widen the hole enough to get the HID bulb in. Halogens still fit too.

If you plan to fit HID's to these headlamps - try them before you fit the headlights to your car!!!
