I've been in 4 TSi's now and they all did it. If this solves the problem quality, but I can't see garages stripping down everyones DSG to do this fix. I'm wondering if yours is worse than normal?

Hmm everyones DSG makes that noise, is there something else wrong with it as well?

Sorry to disagree with you Mardon, but they don't all rattle! Mine is silky smooth.
Upshifts and downshifts at whatever speed are as silent as you like and very, very smooth.
My only (very slight) gripe with the transmission is that with the initial spare travel in the accelerator you sometimes press a bit further and then get more acceleration than you really want i.e when parking.
To overcome this I tend to wait until I feel the drive being taken up with the car beginning to move before applying more throttle if required.

Mines silky smooth too. Drive over a cobbled road with the windows down and you'll what I'm talking about it's not a gear change issue. Chucks must have something different I'm sure.

Lend me ur boc and ill get it to rattle. Nothing to do with gear change just rattles on certain types of roads. Havent seen one yet that doesnt rattle.

Sometimes i hear a rattle on sudden acceleration, could it be the DSG?A Seat technician mentioned the AC pipe could be banging against the bodywork...

I agree with mardon that ALL DSGs do this sound, personally no way i would let anyone open my DSG,because 99,9% they have never done it before.

Mate it is truly bloody awful tbh

 mine was too, it sounded like the box was gonna drop out of the car tbh.

will be interested to see what they have come up with as a fix. They didn't really know what to do with mine so the box was swapped. Sounds like they are starting to admit there shouldn't be a noise!!!

Hey,

Let me start by saying, dude - calm down about the Altea... LOL...

I too own the Cupra and of course am suffering from the rattling noise from the otherwise great DSG gearbox...

The only thing is, that the dealer in my country, Israel, is stating repeatedly, that there is no problem with the gear...
They won't even check it...
So much appreciated, would be to know that a dealer somewhere out there is admitting that there is in fact a problem... SO please update if possible!

Thanks

If its on every car its just a characteristic of the box. Unless its bad like the OP's.

So you have the noise in your car,
and you are saying that it is in fact normal?

There is nothing wrong with our cars?

Based on what ?
What did you dealer tell you?

Based on the fact it happens on every 7speed DSG box. I've been in 4 and they all did it as do everyone elses. If people say their's doesn't do it they just haven't noticed it. Its not a bad rattle and only happens over bumpy surfaces.

Yours could be an actual problem, its hard to tell without hearing it.
