boot lock not working using remote keyfob

My boot lock will only lock/unlock manually using the key and not remotely. I have greased the original solenoid/actuator and even replaced it with a brand new one but it is still not moving. A multimeter shows current to the plug when the keyfob is pressed.

Can anyone suggest what else I should try as I can't afford to give it to a garage or auto electrician to investigate.

Are all your other doors apart from the drivers door locking and unlocking ok via the remote ?

Try disconnecting the battery for about 20 mins and connecting it back up and see if that resets it.

Are you sure you have left the lock in the right possition as you can disconect the remote function with the key.

Thanks for the prompt advice. The four doors lock and unlock fine with remote but the boot is still not locking except with key.

Philc - not sure what you mean other than using the key to mechanically lock the boot which overrides the lock/unlock of the remote fob?

A couple of weeks ago the solenoid/actuator started working again but only for a day and has again stopped. I have applied electrical contact cleaner to the plugs but this has not made any difference.

I could replace the boot lock but I don't think this will fix it as the lock is all mechanical and works fine by key, and it is only the solenoid/actuator that has an electrical connection which is controlled by the remote keyfob.

I can't afford to take it to a dealer/garage to be fixed either.

Just buy the motor/solenoid/actuator thing they are about £10-£20 i bought one a while back i will see if i can find the part number...
