I wouldn't touch the rears, as they hardly do any work.

When I last changed the rear discs&pads on my Passat, the guy at GSF said they had some uprated pads on offer for the same price as std, so I tried them.
The handbrake never worked very well afterwards, used to have to pull it on really hard and it still wouldn't hold on slopes even after several thousand miles to bed in; not 100% sure - but I wondered if it was because the uprated pads didn't offer as much friction when cold.
 
good, i had new front and rear discs and pads about a year ago, hopefully gettin the upgrade is gonna be quite cheap for me £100 fitting i found out for about 2 hours labour.
May end up having to get new hoses as no one seems overly sure about that.
