Ok well I put on the clips yesterday. However still getting a rubbing sound from one side.
What I will do maybe tonight or tomorrow, if weather and light allows, I'll take off both calipers and swap the pads to the other side, and whilst they are off maybe rub em down slightly on a flat surface.
I'll also mill a little bit more off the carrier to ensure that when hot it really doesn't touch the disc

then I'll lube em up with coppergrease and see how it runs then.

keep you informed.

Hooch thanks for info!

Ok little update and would like some help.

Just went to a mates garage and had the front up again. I put coppergrease on the sliding pin from carrier to caliper. Then also on the backs of the pads, and in the corners where pads hook into the carrier. I also swapped pads from right side to left side, as the discs were still not wearing in the centre of the discs (see pic on previous page)

Mounted everything back, put the silver clips over the calipers, tightened up all bolts.

Then drove back home.
However there is still the rubbing noise coming only from the front left side when driving very slowly. Like only one part of the disc is touching something. It also seems to be coming only once every revolution??

Plus the brakes squeek which I don;t understand with the coppergrease..

what could be the problem? cheers for any help

Could be the dust cover rubbing against the disc, you no the metal plate behind the disc. Brake squeek could be just because your pads need a bit more bedding in, prob not a perfect falt surface yet

so brakjes will squeek if they don't exactly touch perfect?

ok...and as for the metal disc you mean the large one behind disc...worth checking that yes

thanks for reply.

only shitty thing is that becuase of winter time I lost another hour of light (between rain showers..) of working on the car after coming home from work.

mate. you wasting your time posting problems like this on a forum as the only way to sort it is to LOOK.

we can all throw a guess but with out seeing the car we are wasting our time. we can give you ideas but you need to try different things....

spin the wheel when on a jack/ramp
remove caliper, refit wheel, spin the wheel.

just try things like that and see what happens

sorry to be an arse but i doubt its anything major or hard to find if you properly look which frustrates me.

HoocH

hooch i get where you are coming from, and this is something which I have thought about.

ok then I have a question which you could answer:

had it on the jack, however when I wanted to spin wheel it spins roughly. Do I have to turn on ignition to get powersteering working first?

are you saying that if I have only 1 wheel in the air then it should spin freely whilst ignition is off and gear in neutral?

surely with engine on it should spin easier or not at all?

reuvers...

jack up the front of your car so BOTH front wheels are off of the floor. (please use axle stands to support the car).

then with the ENGINE OFF and the car in Neutral, try and spin the front wheels.

they wont spin freely as the back wheels do, as the front wheels are still connected to the diff so that will increase resistance.

say you have your left front wheel in the air and your right front on the floor your left on will spin but not a much as a rear because of the diff!
It doesnt matter if the ignition is on or off. if the engine is running and the car is out of gear the wheel may spin a little bit, some do some dont

right thanks...will give it a go and hope to find the cause of the horribly annoying sound

btw I always use axle stands
