Brake upgrade

My car is being mapped next week so i think the standard disks and pads are due an upgrade.
Is it worth spending alot on the rear disks and pads?
I've found some plain brembo disks and ebc pads work out about £45-50.
Is it worth spending more?

If it means you can afford something other than EBC pads, then yes, it's worth spending more. Perhaps Red and Yellow are better, but Greenstuff are flat-out the scariest pads I've ever used.

when they were due an upgrade i put on better rear discs and pads and have felt 0 difference mainly due to the way the break bias is setup i can only presume, putting on better front discs and pads is the only real way to make a difference on the braking performance, either that or get a bigger set up

Redstuff work well on stage 2, or have done on mine, with grooved and drilled discs.

EDIT: Sorry just realised you said rears, as said above, doubt it will make any difference, the fronts do most of the work.

The standard rear discs are already brembos so if your present ones are ok just leave them,the fronts are the ones you should be looking at improving.

I will be getting red stuffs for the frot with brembo max discs.
But as already said the brake bias on our cars is set mostly to the front, that why i was asking about the rears
I think ill go with the cheaper on the rear and spend the extra up front, thanks

I would just stick to standard oem on the rear.
Ferrodo DS2500 pads on the front, I run these on standard discs on the front and have no problems running stage 2 with this set up. Will be getting brembo max discs for the front when the time comes to replace them

Thanks I think that's what I'm going to do but might try red stuff's first as they're half the price of the Ferrodo pads.

£68.77 for Redstuff front pads, £155.46 for DS2500, all prices from Motorsportworld...

Tbh I've heard awesome things about DS2500's, but also lots of people hating on Redstuff...I have run Redstuff for 2 years and they've been great. They're getting a bit low now but I'd certainly consider them again.

There are other options out there...I may look into Yellowstuff next time around, they're around £80 by the looks of things, apparently a lot of police traffic cars run them. Then there's Tarox etc, but at their price you may as well spend the extra £5 and get DS2500's.

Dont get yellow stuff for on road.
My friends cupra came with them and unless you hammer them they have no power and sound like you're rubbing your disks with concrete!

Lol! Red Stuff it is then! In fairness, they've been awesome, this last month or so they're really fading, but that's 2 years and 20,000 miles on, they've done extremely well.
