Well I finally have a confirmed build week, build week 11 so March 14th ordered in August!

I’ve just had an email saying the same and it’s ‘status 20’ which apparently means it can’t be moved again now! Ordered July 2021…

Hi all, I ordered a seat Leon ST FR Phev at the start of August 2021, should have been delivered on the 7th feb, build week vanished during the 1st week of Jan 2022, still waiting, no more info from the dealer, they have said if I ordered the same car on the 1st feb 2022 they would be quoting a Nov 2022 delivery , with that logic, should be here by the end of May 2022.

It sounds like there are a few of you that ordered in August 2021, has anyone from August taken delivery of a phev yet?

It is very frustrating, even more so for the dealers, my rep has over 200 orders waiting to arrive, he usually has 7 or 8 a month not 200. Crazy.

They need to pull their finger out and actually provide updates, even if it’s a simple update, at least we know they are still there.

Hey folks - I've also ordered a Leon FR Sport PHEV - ordered ~20th August 2021, was told October/November 2021 for delivery to NI (hilarious to think that now).

Still not a build date confirmed. SEAT ESP sent me to SEAT UK, but they've not been able to provide me any details at all.

Dealer providing no information, not even a guesstimate.

Just been informed that anyone who ordered a Ehybrid shouldn’t expect it until feb 2023 ish….. that applies to all orders placed since last summer.

Hi, Henry. Who did you hear this from / through? Just wondering if I should start chasing my dealer chap again. I ordered in Sept. 21, so would probably be caught if this is true.

Heard from Two seat dealerships and seat customer service. Rang around to try and get more information and they are being told it’s 54-56 weeks. I ordered mine October last year.

Received this from my dealer this morning. Not a good sign…. At least they acknowledge issues now.

But does that affect customers with confirmed build weeks? Do you have a confirmed build week??

I had a confirmed build week of week 7. This got removed and when I kicked off that is the response I got.

Oh, so you currently don't have a build week at all? What had you ordered? Hope I don't lose my build week!!

Nope no build week again. I’ve ordered a Leon e hybrid with xl pack. Got a looong wait I reckon :(

The situation in Ukraine is also impacting some car manufacturers and - VW being one, so Seat may also be impacted (some of VW’s parts / components are manufactured in Ukraine. Additionally, the precious metal palladium is used in catalytic converters and around 40% of the world’s supply of palladium comes from Russia, so sanctions imposed on Russia could impact palladium supplies.

VW have already said that they are cutting production at some of their factories, and I believe they’re shutting down the Wolfsburg plant for a time starting the week after next.

Disruptions such as the above can only impact lead times - and not in a good way. However, as annoying as it is to have a longer wait, IMHO the wait times pale into insignificance when you consider what the Ukrainian people are going through.

It seems possible that the events in Ukraine will only make matters worse: quote from Automotive Management Online
Birmingham Business School professor, David Bailey, told AM that the repercussions of the conflict are likely to increase.

“One big issue for both manufacturers and retailers will be that on further rises to gas and oil prices, which will effect manufacturing and cost of living,” he said.

“But the impact on manufacturing – coming in the wake of pre-existing semiconductor shortages – could be far greater than that we have currently seen.”

Bailey said that Russia’s position as the major supplier of Neon – used in the production of semiconductors – and around 45% to 50% of the Palladium used to produce catalytic converters would be affected.

“Ukraine has its own automotive industries, working in the highly intensive production of components like wiring looms,” he added.

“The impact on this production will be seen very soon and is likely to be ongoing.”

I didn’t realise the motor industry relied so heavily on Russia/ Ukraine for precious metals. Obviously what is happening over there is awful and am not complaining because of that situation.

Indeed; and certain VW group wiring looms are made in a Ukrainian factory. As you say, whilst it's annoying having to wait an extended period for a new car,
it kind of pales into insignificance compared with the troubles some are having to endure. ?
