My cousin is looking to buy an 02/03 plate Ibiza TDI 130 so i was hoping for some advice on what faults to look for . I `m taking him to look at one on saturday , i`ve got an LC but dont know anything about Ibiza`s . Any tips/advice would be appreciated
I'd look for all the normal stuff on a car of that age but niggles and specifics for the tdi130 I can think of and have happened to mine are:
Torquey engine so expect worn engine mounts, feels like play in the drive train in the lower gears.
Clunking from the suspension, expecially the rear, not uncommon, usualy bushes or topmounts.
Vibration/groaning from the engine under load, usualy rattling intercooler pipe (see respective post in this forum).
Tempremental immobilizer, sometimes stops you from starting car. Sometimes diagnosed as a failed dash unit which can be £££ to replace.
Rattles from the interior - it's an Ibiza.
not that much really, any car owners forum could give you countless faults that are found. if u get stuck in the FAQ area there is a common faults list
The ibiza we`re going to look at has 17" alloys and uprated strut brace fitted from new by seat . Would this be right or is he telling my cousin a few little fibs
Can be correct.. if its brand new then it will be correct... you would be lucky for the dealer to get the car with this options without some1 wanting them in the first place...
As an ex 130 owner (twice!) I wish you all the best, you'll enjoy it, especially with a remap and brakes! Check for SEATCupra.net stickers on the rear or side windows, it might be one of our old ones!
