Today I replaced the cabin filter. According to the schedule in Elsawin this should be done every 18.000 mile (30.000 km) or 2 years.
The replacement filter I installed is a charcoal filter from Mann-Filter, type CUK 3037.
Replacing the filter is a small job and takes appr. 15 minutes.

There was one thing I noticed when closing the filter housing (see picture below).
One of the two clips that secures the lid didn't function as it should. I temporary fixed it by putting some folded paper in the clip.
I am not sure if the clip was functioning well or not before I opened the box.

Instruction manual [pdf]

I just looked at the instruction manual PDF posted above and thought  it's all back to front. Then I remembered that the OP is from the Netherlands and his Exeo is a left hooker.

The above picture is not from my car, but from audiworld.com and there's no specific pdf manual from Mann-Filter for right hookers. ;)

Hi Mcdonald, the earlier A4 had a history of water ingress from poorly refitted cabin filters, having worked on your Exeo filter, would you say that this is still a possibility, I know that yours is petrol and left hand drive, where most UK cars are going to be diesel, but mine is coming up for 2nd year service, should I check if job has been done and properly!....Julian

Not sure about the earlier A4 history, but the clips are a little 'cheap'.
In this topic on audiworld.com they mention that the filter lid sometimes pops off when placing the watertray back. Note that the pics in that topic show a different type of interior filter housing.
I will check next week or so if the lid is still in place and might secure it a little better with ty-raps.
