I think the diesel at the moment is the winner I am a bit of a petrol head but as mention several times the diesel is going to be cheaper to run. Both the cars I've looked at are £10000 so no difference in buying costs. I know servicing is slightly more but I'm sure only slightly. The only thing thats going to be the down is the sound although we use diesel astras as work and they get the t*ts thrashed off them and sound ok and I've spoke to Simon at AMD who has said a complete miltek and sports cat with a re-map is £903 inc vat which would take me in to the 200bhp league and I'm presuming wouldn't really effect re-sale value due to it looking fairly standard and if I want to go one step further add a large turbo for £1250 an be looking at the 225bhp mark.
Thanks for the replies hopefully go for a test drive in this one Friday![]()
To be honest, remaps are pretty common on the cupra tdi, in fact you'll find it hard to find one that has got REVO or something similar on it.
I think the Cupra tdi will be a good move, also you will be surprised at the amount of respect you will get from petrolheads in the know, and you still get the fun of pissing off other hot hatches in your diesel.
