hi guys im new to the scn forums... I have recently bought a 2000 ibiza cupra, saturday morning pulled away from a set of traffic lights and the car coughed and spluttered badly and would not idle on its own. Have had a brief look at the car and it is producing a vac figure of around -6 if you hold the car at an idle on the throttle. The car seems to run ok above idle. Any help very much appreciated!

Any EML's

Vag-com if you have it mate. will be the best help.

Sounds like coilpack may have gone though. or a hose poped off some where.

cheers guys... I iniially thought coilpack... But i plugged the car into a mini reader thing and it threw no codes... Which then i thought air leak... But the car is getting a strong vac reading. As for lights it did throw what i believe is the tcs light up... Im thinking now on the lines of idle control? Im taking it they are electronically controlled? Is there maybe a recalibration method? Thanks again

ill get there before anyone says it

you either have a boost leak from the main intercooler lines or a broken MAF, have you tried running i without the maf plugged in ?

ok i guess its time to chase around the intercooler... I havent yet tried unplugging the maf as i thought it would give a code if faulty but i shall try that today, what would you expect to see happen with the maf unplugged?

ok wicked i shall try that in a while... If it turns out to look like a boost leak do you guys have any tips for tracking them down or is it just one of those jobs lol cheers guys

great job guys would definately appear to be the maf... Sweet as a nut unplugged... Runs terribly if at all plugged. Can anyone recommend where to buy a 3inch maf from the 225 tt or leon as cheap as poss? Thanks a lot guys

ok thanks or that... Well ive only recently bought the car but im told it has a tt 225 maf... I guess they must be the same?

even though unplugging the maf sorted stopped it running rough, i still have money on turbo to charge pipe hose is off
