Sorry for the possible stupid nature of this question, it's probably something I should already know but:

I recently discovered that lifting my foot off all pedals while driving results in a steady crawl at pretty much exactly 5mph. I wanted to know if doing this (in a traffic jam for example) is bad for my car. Is the car using some anti-stall device or is there some other explanation? I'm fairly sure neither of my other cars did this...

Thanks

Most modern cars do this. The ECU stops the car from stalling by keeping the revs up a bit. It's not ideal to let your car drive like this all the time, but for short bursts it's not going to kill the engine.

I find myself forgetting to put the clutch down and getting a very funny response of being pushed forward while braking :)

(Two kids and no consentration.....)
