has or does anyone use Carlube Triple R fully synthetic? (5w40)

bought 5litres today and the price seemed a little too good to be true

Never used it myself. Is it VAG approved?

I've started using Halfords fully synth 5w40 which is VW approved and apparently made by Comma. A VAG specialist once told me that he'd only use semi-synth as otherwise you can get valve tapping but I don't see the logic myself.

thicker oil would quieten it down a bit. not saying where i used to work but we used to use diesel oil in the older cars to make them sound quieter.

it says it meets "Meets the requirements of VW502.00, 505.00"... is that what u mean by VAG approved?

Carlube is recommended by TVR, Morgan and Lotus so i guess it is probably ok

only £17.57 for 5 litres... i might stock up!
