Suspension wouldn't get any lower but the lateral forces are being transferred into them more, so making them work harder as the car will flex less

Im currently running Koni FSD's and Eibach springs and happy with the comfort levels and pretty happy with the handling but ARB's are next now. Think i am going to go for Eibach ones (price is nicer and have a miltek exhaust so no banging) and 25/25mm (i think
), but my question is, mine is a LC but with the Koni's i HAVE the ARB carrier on the strut so do i buy the LCR ones as heard that the standard LC doesnt have the mounting on the strut so would be different? Not sure if i have this completely wrong so any help would be great, cheers.
PS whats the best price kit out there cos im currently on a tight budget. Sure ive seen the Eibach on for £250 complete!!

OK so the carrier is on the strut but how is the ARB on the car at the moment fitted? Is it into that carrier on the strut or OEM setup

Sounds good mate! Same for me, my car is for every day use and im not too much of a mad driver but just want it to handle a bit better. I was thinking 25 front and 28 rear mainly coz that seems to be what most people go for?? but now after reading you little report im thinking your choice sounds about right for me? Oh my god, im all confused again now. You are spot on when you say about the worry of getting the wrong set up as this is not a cheap upgrade. I think the comfort is mainly determined by the shocks and spring so take the ARB's out of the equation first.
Decide on a budget and if comfort is a priority but with budget considerations the Koni FSD setup sound good for a mix of comfort and lowering etc, if money isn't so much of an issue the Bilstein PSS coilovers were excellent in terms of damping / comfort too. If comfort is less of a consideration or you want more track focus start looking at other coilovers with adjustability (rebound etc etc)
My advice on ARB's is this when you are upgrading the ARB (assuming it's on an LCR) the front is 19mm as standard so 22mm is only a small gain and 25mm makes more sense to me. That big hole in the front of the car (where the engine sits
) does a lot of flexing and I believe 25mm works well. I would recommend a strut brace too. There was an argument the car would understeer with a big front ARB.....I never found this even in the wet.Rear ARB - TBH I don't think it matters that much 25mm or 28mm (there was a 32mm availabe at one point which would be a bit OTT) maybe personal taste but I dont think you'll **** things up choosing either.
I know it's a lot of money so if you are in doubt start with a strut brace and some ARB's first and do it in stages
Would a Tdi affect the choice of size? I want the precise steering I miss from my Mk1 Focus so might have to max out the credit card!
Heavier front end, more weight over the wheels. You'll have a larger tendacy to roll so perhaps a stiffer bar needed...perhaps.
Mmmm, the Leon always fealt heavier than the focus which was light and precise and the initial turn in was razor shap on my Mk1 Focus.
You can get the leon to have better turn in from OEM and way, way more grip than the Focus
I'd say add some ARB's (front and rear) and a front strut brace (top and bottom if you can) would be a good start
Thanx Ruddmeister, just deciding which to go for now, who did u get to fit yours? As i'm only done the road in Bridgwater, have you ever used TSR since they have changed hands and re-opened?
Speedsix have you had anything else done by them was thinking about getting CC 2 done there at some point in the future when i have the spare cash, but need enough cause knowing my luck the clutch will go straight after
No not since the change of hands, used to go in a lot under previous ownership as I worked nearby (at the time) they fitted my front ARB only.
I know Syphon (admin) used performance Driven on his wife's old Ibiza (Taunton) said they were good....... I've no direct experience of them
The old TSR was great on the classic stuff and mechanicals but Remaps, ECU's etc they were plain dangerous with some of there advice
sorry for the late reply mate trying to do 2 cars and a house at the mo and im bloody knackered and my memory has gone awful. Its still on the OEM setup mate, but not completely happy with the handling so want to get it sorted with the ARB's, but wondering how i go about it and which kit to get (LCR?). Im thinking Eibach only because i have the springs at the mo and the price is much better than neuspeed!!
