Hi everyone,

When will I learn:doh:

Yesterday I washed the engine on my Ibiza and predictably it now wont start:(

I bagged the Dizzy, Coil, Alternater and Battery before I started and all remained dry - anyone got some suggestions what could be the problem and what to checK?

The starter motors working but theres no spark! - This was causing it to flood so I've removed/replaced all the plugs but still no joy. I've also been round checking all electrical connectors/plugs for moisture and everything appears to be dry.

Any help much appreciated!

Cheers

Checked everything again tonight with no joy! - I've buggerd somthing but just cant find it!

Maybe I've soaked somthing to do with the management:confused:

Please, Please, Please can someone give me some advice/direction with this as aits starting to drive me nuts!

After charging Battery and removing/replacing plugs started it up last night but still with trouble firing!

Felt a bit lumpy initially when blipping throttle and there was a quite audable tick (never ticked before)! It settled down to idle at 1000 RPM with the tick diminishing as norm. temp. was achieved. Whilst reversing out of the drive there was juddering which I could feel through the clutch.
I was able to drive through first gear but when put into second and accelerator pressed experienced bad juddering, lumpiness and hesitation to the point of almost stalling. It felt like pressure building up with no where to go!?

As said before - advice much appreciated!

Cheers

water in the dizzy?

Dizzy is dry as I bagged it before washing along with the Coil, Battery and Alternator.

Only used a garden hose with a trigger attachment!

With these symptoms does anyone think it could be the ECU - is that not in the scuttle area (might have soaked it!). What abut the injectors, throttle body or that area?

Did some further searching and I'am starting to compile a BIGGER list of things to check

In terms of electrical conections/plugs are there any that should not be disturbed?
Can the ECU be removed/replaced with no effect on its functionality?

i know this might sound silly, but if did you wash the engine when the engine was red hot, it would have caused the block to crack due to such a change in temp.

you done a compression test>

Engine was warm and then left to cool down but definately was not hot!

After running it for the last week it now seams to be fine! no stuttering - temp, economy and performance normal.

Good point though and I will look into it!
