Cleaning Doorcards

Hi all,
dont know if this is something that happens to anyone else but if have standing water on the roof of the car and brake, even softly, it all comes pouring in the window. according to Seat its a 'characteristic' of the car.

now whereas i dont really care about it happening too much as it does no damage, it does however stain the door cards. what do people use to clean doorcards, and for the same matter, seats?

dont have an aqua vac and hoping not to have to pay someone the cost of a full valet to clean them!

according to Seat its a 'characteristic' of the car

i'd get SEAT to repair any leaking windows if it was under warranty...mine don't leak and it's never a 'characteristic' on ANY car to have water pour in on the inside. it may be that your windows aren't sitting fully inside the rubber seal, or your doors haven't been fitted properly from factory

EDIT: just realised its an 04 plate, so no warranty

can you elaborate on where the water is coming through?

Ive used tescos car "foam upholstry cleaner" and that seems to work fine. Just be sure to give a even coverage and not put more in one place than another, as it can stain.

I assumed he ment when the windows were open If the windows are leaking - then get seat to sort it though!

i guess you mean with the window open slightly ??

one of the downsides of modern gutterless designs - worth looking at window deflectors as a cure ?

i just accelerate a tad down my road making it all go down the rear window, but never had it come in through the sides

This happened to me today! The water ran off the roof super quick as I waxed it at the weekend. Car upholstery foam gets rid of the stains. One time I had my head out of the window as I was reversing into a tight gap and the water ran off the roof and all over me!

The same thing used to happen with my previous car (Pug 306) I thought by going up in the market such things wouldn't happen!

Clean with whatever product you feel works best, Tesco Foam stuff or Auto Interior Shampoo, then once it dries bang some of this on... no more staines.

I might try that on the seats as they mark if you just touch them

thanks for the replies guys. yeah its due to the gutterless design i think. only does it when window's open. woulda thought seat would realise this when they built but obv not!

wil try some upholstery cleaner

yeah this does happen to my car so i never open my windows till i've done a handful of turns and roundabouts. Mind you if you have the car nicely waxed, there is i recon less build up of water. My previous Hyundais were very bad for this as they had flatter roofs.
