hi there , just been out in my car an the clutch pedal just just hit the deck, it just snapped back to the floor, any one care to hep as im stuck !!!! had to push it home!!!!

Damn your not having much luck.... yea the clutch pedals are **** they all do it at some point. its the little box section on the clutch pedal, it breaks because they only put two small ass spot welds on it, U will have to either weld it back with it on the car, or take it off like i did. bit of a bitch to do, but when u get it off u'll see wat needs welding oh and u might need a new plastic clip aswell that fits in it.

clip is 23p from seat, just get the pedal rewelded using good spot welds and you till be fine, i think its only tack welded from new.
I also thought of putting a bar through the rear of it so that it acts as a fail safe if it ever happens again.

if u take the black cover off under the foot well, and pull ur clutch petal back, u'll see a little box section on the pedal, its about half way up, its the back bit that breaks off, the hydraulic shaft for the clutch fits into it. if its not rainning i'll try take a pic with my phone tomorrow
got the car home , crashed the box and started in gear , wasnt leavin it all nite, teh clip looks to be broken ??? how the hell do i get the shaft back though as its down???

I had the Pedal Box done under Warranty but the Clutch Pedal cost me about £176
have a search. There are loads of threads out there about this failuire. Some with pics that will explain it too you a bit better

Btw the cars a 2001 and the clip looks like a clip eith a ball joint in the centre holing on to what i presume is the pistion.Thats just loose , not connected to anything???

BLOKE I BOUGHT MY mK2 off thought his gearbox was'gone'.. i drove it and thought 'more clutch than g/box'.. paid a pittance for the car. turns out the white clip was broken and the pedal box weld was almost shafted.. carefully drilled thru the two plates and put a lock-nut and bolt thru'... been like that now for over 18 month and is as god as gold....

My mates just been round , he used to work for vw so he knew what he was looking at. said the weld had gone on the back of the pedal, hes gona take it off for me 2morow and weld it back for me
Fingers crossed. rang my local seat dealer and told them to noitfy seat UK about the growing problem and they said they didnt care, lol , i said on a 5 yr old car with 40k on the clock do u think sumthin like this should be breaking , they simlpy turned round and said ive seen it on a 30k mile car and its caused by a worn clutch which is heavier and breaks the pedal lol

Im sure he knows this but get him to double weld it so that its REALLY strong
