got a luna grey mk4 tdi fr, and am looking to colour code the bump strips. Was just wondering if anyone else has done this on their mk4?

Have had a quick troll through the readers ride and seen a few other Fr's but they are mainly zenith gray and black so the black bump strips dont look that obvious, whereas on my luna grey Fr they look very prominant.

Dont plan on doing any real exterior body work except for colour coding these....are they easy to do?

cheers

nope i had one on the lads in the bodyshop at work do it while he was doing some other work!

ahhh right.....im looking at maybe doing it myself...however if it wont cost a body shop too much i may ask them.....

any ideas on cost? or difficulty to do it yourself? i presume they would need sanding down and primed...

First mod i did was buy a new set of side rub strips thru seat (as part of the deal when i bought the car from a dealers) got them sprayed and fitted and got it debadged only cost me about £40 quid, easier then doing it yourself. If you do wanna do it yourself its easier to buy new ones and do them off the car, then take the old ones off and fit the newly painted ones in my opinion! the new ones you can buy are not smooth tho so they will need rubbing down first, or the ones i got from the dealers did anyway! makes the car look a million times better!

ahh i see! i may ask a body shop to do it. Have a volkswagon bodyshop quite close to me so may enquire how much it would be for them to be colour coded luna grey!

it does make the car look so much nicer

hmmmm was thinking of getting the ibiza de-badged....but wanna keep the FR and tdi badges hahaha

hopefully it shouldnt cost too much to colour code, will enquire this week

yes i mean the door strips, didnt know how to describe them...hahaha

e-mailed my local volkswagon bodyshop about getting them colour coded...i await their response

hahaha yea, thats what i thought

just posted in part numbers section for the rub strip numbers.....then i can order them from stealers....presume they are quite cheap....then spraying cant be overly expensive...will speak to my seat dealer tomorrow

did u get ur rub strips from seat? or did you you use the current ones and just had them sanded down etc...and re-sprayed?
