I think I paid around £80 in total, that was ~£20 for the parts then £60 to get them smoothed painted and fitted which I thought was reasonable but it looks like it could be done cheaper.

i had the new ones rubbed down plastic primed and painted so they are smooth and colour coded

thats what i did! they are stuck on, no holes when you take them off don't worry! And i use a fabulous bodyshop in portsmouth if you're anywhere near there i can give u the details! they've worked on my mk1 106 i had, my corolla t sport and my ibiza and they are top notch and they are cheap!

Coloured strips on a silver ibiza...

Just gotta find out how to spray the handles!

Cost me...
£20 for strips
£12 to get the paint mixed up in a spray can
£4 for primer
£4 for lacquer

Came out well! Could use a machine polish one day, which I imagine wouldn't be necessary if you got a paintshop to paint them for you :)

yea thats what i want! looks so much cleaner with colour coded strips....gonna buy the parts then prime them myself...maybe chuck a few quid at a bodyshop place and see if they will spray them for me...

Do seat not provide primed strips? Im sure i read somewhere someone got thm ready primed. I phoned seat in coventry the other day and they said they could only get the textured ones, gonna cost more to get sorted :(

oh no....thats not good, im gonna buy the strips this week then see if ican get a bodyshop to spray and fit them for cheap

The ones you buy from seat come in black textured plastic and already have the tape on the back to stick them on

nope you cant. to be honest though a light sand and decent layer of primer will loose the texture any way

awesome....will do that then....surely it wont cost them much to spray them if i do all the donkey work of priming....

you get my pm about spacers? wanted to check i get the right length bolts?

to be honest it will not save you that much as they will sand and reprime your prime coat i would have thought before they paint them. also im lazy so would rather get someone to do it and do it right first time:lol:

you PM was replied to ;)

yea u have a point there...just need to find somewhere that will do it cheap.....

cant beleive the volkswagon place said about 200 quid...i was looking to spend approx 50 am i too over optimistic?

cheers for pm?

spacers will be ordered soon

right got an update

found a local place who will do it 90 quid all in.....thats sanding, priming, spraying, lacquer...and fitting of new ones and taking off of the old...

this sound resonable?
