Something else everyone should be aware of:
Talking to one local dealer at weekend and he told us that in the July edition of Glass' guide ( car valuations ), they had made an 'adjustment' whereby all cars had devalued by an additional 1-2% in the July edition! He couldn't explain the reason for this, other than the trade being on it's backside!

I got 14750 for my 10 plate FR TDi when I traded it in, in June now on the forecourt for £14999!! Dealer will have taken a hit on it and we traded it in. Values often drop in July and Jan as interest wains seems a harder hit this year though

As I was just saying on the 'Sold my Cupra K1' thread:

I get the impression dealers are overstocked so looking to give crap trade in values as they might hold the stock for quite a while due to lack of demand... Seems the recession is really biting. I suspect it's better to sell privately at present.

15k for a 3+year old Cupra...... the only way you'll get that is from someone "special"!?

I purchased my 2007 cupra (just out of it's 3 year warranty) from a Seat main dealer for 11K. Done 19k miles. You telling me you'll get an extra 4k because it has done 10K less miles & with no warranty? Being clean, makes it easier to sell, it doesn't add to the cars value!

Another issue is - it hasn't been driven enough for the faults (that would be sorted under warranty) to come out, so this would put me off! It's not a Ferrari at the end of a day!

You've got 2 hopes........... I would advertise it for 13K but take 12.5K!

But good luck to ya, if not in hurry this special person might come along!?

Actually am quite bored explaining to people who clearly haven't read all he thread the detailed spec of this car, but it's a 2008 MY car, not 2007, for starters & there is a long list of options, not least the film protection on the front end retaining the virgin paint beneath.
It's not a Ferrari, but has been treated and maintained like one. I don't have to convince anyone and if it doesn't sell, that's fine. I won't be selling it at book though, because I don't need to. I will happily keep it first.
Everyone on here recently told me how I would never get £850 for my original Cupra alloys & eagle F1 assy tyres. I got all the same stick as now.
They were all wrong, as eventually a buyer (someone special) who wanted a pristine as-new set rather than pay £1600 for new ones came along and was delighted when he saw them, exactly as I predicted. He couldn't believe the wheels had even been used.

Also, the Cupra has a brand new exhaust and Seat wheels which are under warranty.

This is an exceptional & unique example of he Cupra & is something of a celebrity car with the local Seat dealer. It's clearly the best car in the world ! (Ok, ok, now I am just kidding, Lol !)
Now, when can I expect your cheque ? [B)]

You will be very lucky to get 11k for it mate. You will have to drop the price at some point? As the years you'll be keeping it waiting for "Mr Special" will certainly take there toll no?

I refer the Right Honourable Gentleman to my earlier answer...

I just don't understand any justification in putting an extra 3-4k on your asking price because you like to give your car a wee clean and put it in the garage etc? People looking at it genuinly won't pay too much attention to that point in relation to the heafty price tag. As has been said, it is a SEAT. If it was a ford focus RS mk1 that was in as new nick and low miles, "unmolested". Which yours has been as it is not standard "nothing wrong with that". Then yeh you could justify that on a future collectors item. But this is a mass produced, good value for smiles hatchback??????

I know it's a 2008! I was just stating that I got my Cupra last year - when it was 3 years old....... so if I was buying a 3 year old motor today - it'll be a 2008! The only extra you have to mine is the film protection, alloys & 10K less...... would I pay £4k more = hell no!

Get 12 month old Cupra backed up with warranty & no MOT's or yours.............. it's a no brainer!!!!

You're also forgetting the next service on yours is the big one - £650 if from Seat!

If you do find a buyer.... let me know his/her details - I got an PlayStation one they can for £250...... it's been in the box for the last 10 years!!!!

I, for one, would rather spend extra cash on a car that has proven care then one from the likes of evans halshaw, that you have no idea of it's history.
He may have changed parts, but the car you pick up from a car supermarket may have been serviced at a back street garage etc.

As he's said, someone will buy it, at the end of the day it's his car and he can sell for what he wants. If I had the extra cash, I'd sell mine and by it purely because it's a lot lower miles, clearly been cared for and it's white, which is the new 'in' thing!

Thanks mate. :)
I am baffled why so many people buy from dealers and even car supermarkets...every car I see in these big car marts look totally hammered...I saw a Honda S2000 and it was covered in stone chips worn seats, etc. Not a looked after motor on any level. I have friends who say I have an obsession with this motor but they all

Is that healthy though ?

I really should go work for McLaren or something... :cartman:

So you would pay 4K more, when you can buy a newer motor with the majority of it's warranty remaining??? What everyone is saying, is he's competing against newer cars - there's no doubt he's got the best 2008 Cupra but it's not worth the extra!

You also got to think about resale as you'll have no hope getting that 4k or even 1k of it back!

I am not here to fish for compliments.

But I have to challenge the assumption that newer automatically = better!

My car is way nicer than many 2010 cars I have seen in local dealer, even showroom cars ! I reckon its worth £13k plus even without all the extras.

PS The first service will not be costing £650, and I have already had it MOT'd.

Sorry dude, but I disagree.

Warranty for most people is what they would spend that much money on a car for.

Also, your choice of extras are take em or leave em. Using your own admission, £13k plus extras to £14.5k, you are asking £1500 for extras that add no value to the car. I seem to recall posting on your thread when you got those wheels that while they are nice, in my opinion, they look wrong on that car because they were not released for that car. If I think that, the chances are, others will too.

I bet you will find that advertising the car with no mention of remap and with the standard intake fitted will probably get you more interest as it will at that point appear to be at least unmolested as well as clean.

Sorry dude, but to be honest, you are talking absolute mince now.

Sorry Dude, you are wrong. Paint shield alone cost a grand. 2 grand for wheels and tyres & so on.

I have all the receipts.

You need to recalculate...

PS where did the 'mince' go ? Lol!

I decided to be less harsh so edited to suit and added in a few other points :)

By the way, paint shield is worth nothing on a used car. Look at the Glass guide if you don't believe me.

Thanks for that. ;)

Glass guide is just that...a guide! It's not actually the bible. It's also very blunt and inaccurate in some areas. And trade dealers get very upset when you quote from it, I noticed...

I believe Paintshield is exactly what many 2nd hand buyers would love, because it preserves the car as new & if the buyer wants to remove it, guess what, - underneath it's brand new paintwork!

One of my local car dealers didn't even understand what it was until I showed him. Had no idea. He never even heard of it, sigh.
Ok so most people would only use it on a Ferrari or similar, but, hey - that's good, ok?
It's one of the factors that make my motor worth Top $. :p

If you don't agree, that's fine, I respect that, but I just don't think you get where I am coming from. :(
