Considering selling my special baby... What's it worth ?

I have been bitten by the bug after driving a Honda S2000 and whilst it can't hold a candle to my Cupra's performance, it's very cool.

I was trying to figure out what price I could get for my Cupra if I was part with her privately?

Spec as follows:
MY 2008 TFSi Cupra , 8500 miles only, with Convienience pack, Xenons, Bluetooth, rear parking sensors, 2011 19" Cupra R potenza alloys, Contisport 5 tyres, side skirts, paint shield frontal paintwork protection film, Revo stage 1, Carbonio CAI. Arm rest, Carbon Seat Sport gearknob, Seat handbrake trim option, rear mudguards, Seat dealer FSH. Brand new exhaust MINT inside, outside, even underneath! Has to easily be cleanest Cupra in UK, never used in winter, and no rattles! ... Oh, and no rusty wheel hubs either as I had them professionally painted when new to ensure they didn't go brown like I saw on other Leons. (See Pic!)

What would I get for it if I went the Autotrader route?

I talked about trade in with a couple of dealers but it was like talking to donkeys!

They just don't get the fact that it's been super pampered or all the extras on board...they didn't even grasp the Xenons were an option!

Motor dealers saleman are just so poor in my experience, the last two were just kids.
Really not impresseds with the car trade, tried to rip off the wife on a trade in recently by giving bottom price on her car (which is MINT) and £2k over value on theirs(Not mint or low mileage) ...nice try, but just shot their credibility.

Also have noticed that they are turned off if you are a cash buyer as it reduces their options to sell finance and screw you that way too! Motor trade just full of scams.

I guess my car would really be best sold privately to a discerning buyer.

it is a mint car. Id probably say 13k private. If trade in to get a better deal just finance the minium possible amout over a year, then once half that year is up you can settle the rest of the balance without any penalties iirc.

Trade in prices can be really gutting when compared to retail. I'd say aim for between 12 and 13k on a private sale.

It's basically been stored like an F1 car and lives in a similar laboratory - type garage enviroment.

Even valuable classic supercars don't get pampered more than this one!

I don't think it delivers any more power, but the throttle response seems much crisper on and off throttle since I fitted it.

It also lifts the engine bay apearance to another level alltogether...

Hmmm... I think I wouldn't be accepting very much below £14k.

It's strange how in this age of the internet that the car valuer websites can't give a super-detailed valuation.

My Mrs isn't happy as she reckons I will bitterly regret selling...

Keep it (if finances allow) and hunt down an S2000 after summer(!) when they nosedive in price thanks to crap weather!

On a more serious note I think your wife is probably right and you may regret selling it. Nothing worse than that sinking feeling when you realise "oops, maybe that wasn't a good move".

Superb car. I'd keep it.

I'd pay for a glass' guide , 3.95 from memory. Gives a good indication to what you should get private and/or trade.

Looking at parkers, what car etc is a total waste of time. You would probably be best flogging the wheels and bits and puttin the car on as a standard deal.

Realistically, it makes no difference to a buyer how much TLC it has had, or how much has been spent on it. Also, modifications add zero value - they could actually even work against the value of the car.

You should put the original wheels back on, sell those ones as they will be worth more than the Orions, and expect trade value plus a couple of grand for it. I would also dump that intake too.

Realistically, that car is probably worth a lttle over £10k in my opinion considering it will be out of warranty, maybe £11k-£12k or so at a push. Not trying to be cheeky - more like realistic. That being said it will be worth what someone is willing to pay for it.

If I put my 2010 Cupra in Speed Blue with Tech Pack for sale right now, I would prob ask for £15k for it, and it has 2 years and 2 months warranty left on it with similar miles to your car.

Cars lose value - sad but true.

Al, thanks for the input, but I sold my Orions last month for £850.

It's now quite a similar situation to the wheels really. Lots of people made silly low offers because they didn't value how mint they were, they just wanted a cheap set of wheels.

I turned every one down and I sold them to the guy who did value the condition they were in and knew he wouldn't find another set like that short of buying new.

I will use the same strategy with the car. If there is someone wanting a Mint pre FL example, free of stone chips and wear, they will want it.

Also... I don't think you can assume that because someone else offers a lower price to yours that means u have to respond, as in the flesh it may not be as nice as yours.
The 3 things to evaluate should always be 1) condition 2) mileage 3) age ... a bit like when evaluating women really !

Ignore that stupid book with the price of cars in it. Dealers use it just to rip you off and give you a **** p/x.

I agree with al that mods will add **** all value to your car, I can imagine a lot of people thinking 'this has been modded so it's probably been ragged about constantly'.

Cars are always worth less than you think, but I reckon you can flog it for more privately than you would get in p/x.

P.s don't get an S2000, get a skyline R33, S15 or a supra

I saw those orions on eBay for aaaages, didn't think he would have managed to sell them for £850. Well done for holding out and getting what you wanted for them
