Hi all,

I’ve put in a rust warranty claim and they’re asking for a copy of the ‘bodywork corrosion report’.

I’m led to believe this is probably a stand alone form that gets completed at service time to check bodywork condition. I have a dealer stamped service book, but can’t see any mention of a separate record for the bodywork.

Can anyone advise on whether this is actually a thing, and if so what it might look like?

Cheers, MM

Hi your better off processing your warranty claim through a VW dealer rather then doing it yourself for that reason your facing now. If the warranty claim was processed by a dealer they’d complete any paperwork needed and take the relevant photos for the claim themselves and check to see if it’s a manufacturing defect or a result of something else depending on where the rust is in relation to the car. The way your doing it is going to take a very long time going back and forth via emails and eventually they tell you to go to a dealer too so they car check the claim and rectify it.

Thanks. I’ve been to the dealer who have done all the photos and report etc. It’s the dealer’s warranty inspector that’s asked for this extra info to send to the manufacturer (even though car had been serviced at their site previously...)

Oh really? Always the way I deal with warranty claims all the time and every once in awhile get a real jobs worths who does things like that. It’s probably something he should have asked for when the car was at the dealer. I hate the way sometimes they drag out the warranty process for some claims by going back and forth via emails. Best of luck I’m sure they will sort it for you.
