Now I'm wondering what road you are on! I know there is a pretty smart silver Leon on one of the roads leading to my street (don't fancy listing streets to randomers on the net :p) but I see you have an Ibiza..

I'll be checking the bits tomorrow but If I get stuck I'm quite happy to let you take a look!! I can always pop around to save you the time.

Lowe, it's quite possible!

My Ibiza (at the moment) is a proper shed and quite embarrassing, plus it's a off blue/purple colour. Nothing worth admiring!

It's only a 2 min walk so I'll PM closer to next weekend if you're stuck?

Here are the results guys, can get more if required.

It looks at first glance that your EGR has been mapped out anyway as the specified MAF reading is at 465 which is a lot higher than the 270/290 it should be originally.

I would say, looking at the idle screen shot, the EGR wouldn't be causing the problem.

I agree to some extent, but I'd say the EGR function has been reduced on vagcom. It's not mapped out completely though else it would just read as unavailable

I've remapped my EGR out completely and the MAF specified reads 850. This is the basic way to do it as all you're doing is flattening the EGR valve map to its max value.

You can turn the EGR down on VCDS however, the reading won't go that high, it usually hovers around 370-390. Any further increases have to be done through the ECU.

I have indeed turned the EGR down as per the thread. I did this whilst the problem was happening to get a few more MPG back.. Takes me from an average of 30-35 to 35-40 so it helps. Still not sure what to do. I have insurance, cam belt, AV service and brake fluid needing doing without having to fork out for another map as well :( Looking about £1500 without the map already!!

Does sound like a mpaping issue, who did it by the way? Make a complaint and get them to sort it.

Noticed you live right near me aswell, nice to see some other people from our way on here. Get a meet sorted lads.

I still don't fancy revealing the name as I don't want to put a bad light on a company if it turns out to not be them. Once my insurance is paid off I think I'll get the cambelt, brake fluid and remap done at the same time at PSI tuning..

We dont know whats wrong yet so until we do, we dont know what (or who) is at fault.

So you have checked EGR and it already looks to have been 'turned down'?

I've turned down the EGR as per the guides on this forum. I did this whilst the problem existed not before (so it's not the cause) to increase my MPG a little bit more which has worked as I was getting 30-35 without it and now often get 35-40.

You live literally around the corner, I walk the dog past your car and into park to cut through to the new reprobate/youth vision center every night.

When I'm back the weekend after next, I'll pop round and scan the car both map and VCDS if your interested. You're only a 2 min walk away :)

 well.... how weird is this???? I live near to you pair too.... between you and the McDonalds roundabout lol

Is it smoking any more than normal? On boost (or what was boost?) Check your boot, is it covered in more soot than normal?

Does it sound any different under load? Can you hear the turbo spooling in the flat spot?

I had a Revo remap on mine, although it was great for performance the power was very peaky, an 'aggressive' map as another tuning company told me. This caused the variable vanes on the turbo to fail.

My car was fine above 2500 but below there was gutless and smoky. MPG went down the drain.

Two things you can try - one is to search for the method of cleaning out the turbo on here, can't remember what it's under now. Search for stuck turbo or similar.

Second is to get a reconditioned turbo. It costs about £400 for the turbo alone though. If all else fails...

Mine was fine after a new turbo. Changed the map after that, to an Awesome Gti 'softer' remap.

No smoke really, sounds no different under load, I'll try to listen for the turbo during the flat spot (although I don't feel that flat spot as much anymore)

I'm really hoping it's not the turbo.. I'll probably just trade it in if it's that.. It's only done 29k miles..

Well, I've booked the car in to PSI Tuning for the cam belt to be changed. Also asked about putting the standard map on and providing they have the original map it will cost £26 all in which I'm happy with. It'll be about £60 if they don't have the map but they said they'd work out something as I plan to get it mapped again if this resolves my issues.

Definitely let us know if this solves your issue! Also let us know about PSI Tuning's customer service. My misses cleared stated to me that she wouldn't touch them with a 'spunky stick' after what they did to her friends car, but that's for another day!

I'm sure they're great and it's so useful that they are literally down the road :)

See if they could analysis your remap and see if the fueling down in the lower rev range is aggressive, they should be able to tell if its been done properly.

Ok so, cars back to standard and it's still the same.

42mpg on the way to work with little to no traffic driving 70 for a large chunk of the way.

On the way home I thought I'd see if I could get it hot and try to clear anything out that may need burning off so drove home all the way without going higher than 4th and tanking it down some of the roads.. I managed to still get 40mph doing this.. It makes no sense.

Anyone have any further ideas?
