Ok so, cars back to standard and it's still the same.

42mpg on the way to work with little to no traffic driving 70 for a large chunk of the way.

On the way home I thought I'd see if I could get it hot and try to clear anything out that may need burning off so drove home all the way without going higher than 4th and tanking it down some of the roads.. I managed to still get 40mph doing this.. It makes no sense.

Anyone have any further ideas?

How far are you driving ?

I drive 15 miles to work and if i drive at the speed limits i only get mid 40's. If i tickle it i can get low 50's.

I travel 13 miles to work in my cupra tdi 10 miles of which are on duel carriageway on which i do an average of 80mph and I only get about 40-42mpg i have to go below 70 to get anywhere near 45-50 so maybe you car is running how it should?

I agree.

Maybe I'm lucky but I managed 68 mpg driving 20 miles at 50 on a dual carriageway then 5 miles inner city stop start the other day. Normally get at least 50 mpg driving anywhere.

Sorry for the epically slow reply to this one but you are missing what I wrote in previous replies. Before the map I got high 40s and low 50s every single day I went to work, after the map it was 35-40.

Since this saga I've had the map removed AGAIN and emailed the company but they are basically telling me I'm talking bollocks and to bugger off!

So rather than waste my time trying to prove it I've written off the £300 I spent and trying to make the money back otherwise.

Not really sure if I should bother getting another map or not... I keep feeling like just selling the car now and getting something else as I just get annoyed now that I've spent money on essentially nothing. Kinda depressing to be fair.

One thing to try mate, and it helped the economy on my 130pd, was disconnect the maf sensor, give it a clean with se electrical contact cleaner. Or try a new one or a known working used one.
The maf might not fail completely, but the contacts can become dirty and corroded and with vibration and resonance could be failing on and off while you are driving? Cheap thing to try?

Have you named and shamed them yet?

Looking at your maf readings i bet the maf is weak prob ok when it was mapped but now signal is weak its overfueling

Acksaw, did you ever managed to solve this issue?

I've been having the same issue recently, low MPG and felt slightly hesitant. It looks like my MAP sensor is on it's way out. I'll report in the morning to see if this improves my issue.

Just a quick update!

Poor MPG issue resolved for me :)

Rechecked all boost pipes which meant my car looked like this...

After looking at the MAP sensor wires, it was evident what my issue was;

The wires were twisted together and over the years, wire 1+2 rubbed together, and shorted, giving the ECU iratic readings causing my car to overfuel. After a quick WD40, dry and wrap in insulation tape, I took the car out for a spin and wow, such an improvement!

Give this a shot Acksaw, if you're still around :)

Yeh, haven't checked what Badger recommended yet as working nights currently (5am and 2 hours to go..), not exactly sure where to look but hopefully work it out.

Got 27mpg last tank according to Fuelly but that it was in for service and MOT so looked to have been left ticking over for an hour. They found nothing wrong other than a slight rear caliper bind which is definitely not the issue as wheels spin freely with the handbrake off and out of gear. Weirdly I sometimes have it jump into limp mode when pushing it and reaching around 2.5k RPM. I'm confident something is wrong but no idea where, just hope what Badger suggested could be the solution if I can find it!

I really want to get it mapped again but scared to go it whilst having these issues

Doesn't look drastic. Wouldn't hurt to clean it mind you.

Cannot believe it's been so long still unresolved.
Perhaps I should protect that bit of wiring before it happens to me

Ideally that section of wiring needs extending a few inches to protect it as it's pretty stretched already.

Perhaps next time I'm in there I'll do this 'mod'. Shame we can't source a socket and plug and make a plug and play job to make on the car fitting quick and simple...
