Creations Motorsport TIP fouling gearbox cables

Heya folks,

New to the forum. I'm sat on the driveway semi defeated.

Got a 180hp Auq engine Cupra 2005

Rebuilt the turbo and went to fit the creation motorsports TIP pipe and it doesn't clear the gearbox cables for love or money.

It's K03s standard turbo..

I saw a previous post where someone managed to get it to fit by cutting it down. So in my frustration I tried that.. it didn't work 😅.

This a subject that's well documented?

I think I've just solved my own problem. Wrong pipe.

£130 chopped up for nothing 🫠

Just seen this was just about to say did you have a k04 style tip by mistake but you’ve found the issue. I’ve done the same cut one up and found out it was wrong then I sold it and found out I’d cut it too short for the next person to fit it lol 🤦🏽‍♂️ so had to refund the poor guy

So yeah, I think it bought the oversized by accident. It listed AUQ engine in its list of compatible engines. But, I may at least be able to keep it incase I upgrade to a hybrid turbo later... 👀

Confusing, it's definitely fitted to an AUQ engine in the pics on their website. https://creationsmotorsport.com/silicone-turbo-intake-hose.html

The 225bhp cars with the K04 turbo (BAM and AMK engine codes) have completely different intake manifold layouts. The TIP for those engines look like this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Silicone-Turbo-Intake-Cupra-H0145/dp/B08H2GSR8H?th=1

When you rebuilt the turbo, is it possible that you reassembled it with the compressor housing at a slightly different angle? I'm not sure about the K03s, but on a lot of turbos it's possible to do that and people call it 'Clocking' as you can rotate the housing so that it faces the desired direction. I only have the standard TIP on mine, but it's not low enough to come anywhere near the gearbox cables.

Yeah I thought the general rule was that there isn't the room to fit an oversize TIP to the KO3 and only a silicone version of the original would do.

So, I've managed to order the correct pipe for the AUQ engine. It fits, but it's definitely snug against the gear linkages. I could realistically cute some more of the end, but I have a bit of PTSD after the last time 😂.

I've hooked it all up, but I'm convinced it's got an extra hose..

The pipe I have in my hand on the 2nd picture I've routed to the section of the TIP with the metal fitting, but referring to picture 1.. and also pictured in picture 3... I can't remember anything going in there...

It's a 5mm(ISH) internal diameter fitting so I'm gonna block it off and hope for the best.

I wouldn't usually have a problem remembering, but I've stripped so many parts off this car now 😂.
