Cupra 300 Help !

Hey all
Got an amber check engine light
Code P268100 on OBD
Has flashed up 21 times. and goes up with every small drive

I've heard it can either be Coolant bypass control valve or waterpump

its currently booked in to go mechanics for service and coolant tank change to get rid of dreaded silica bag.
so i guess this errors arrived at a good time.

i just want the mechanic visit to go smoothly so should i acquire a control valve to have in the car incase that is the issue? and could always return it if not.
also i cant seem to find the actual part or an OEM matching quality one?

just got the car , completely stock and low miles , kicking rocks at moment lol any help guidance or recommendation appreciated

Hi,
That fault code links to your "Coolant system bypass with position sensor" but you don't know if its a faulty valve/sensor or wiring without further testing.

I'd make sure that your mechanic is "okay" with using customer sourced spare parts, as most don't like doing that in case something does not go to plan - and they end up being the fall guy, also insurance covering their operating does tend to not agree to this - for the possible reasons that I've already given.
