cant really comment on the derv's but imo the cupra handles pretty good. my handlings about to get a lot better right enough as im about to fit coilovers but its more for looks as i very rarely push the car to the extremes of its handling capabilities. :drive1:

only thing i would say is its pretty harsh and at times it feels like your getting the sh1t kicked out you......but i kinda like that....except when im hungover!

No probs cupra. I'd buy the cupra petrol if i could afford it. I'm taking the test drive at Droitwich seat. Red FR i believe. I have driven a mk4 golf 1.8t in the past and have to say wasn't overly impressed. I think the ibiza is going to be different due to being lighter and probably a better handler overall. One of the things i'm really excited about however is to be able to put a sports exhaust on her. I hate the sound of my derv

perosnally i would stick to the TDi or simply change to a different car.

The handling is not much different to the TDi, in fact the TDi is the nicer to drive as not as firm and bouncy as the FR. Perfomance, trust me, most of the time the TDi if remapped will feel alot quicker than the FR petrol.

IMHO you will be throwing good money after bad, same car, slower, better noise, but lower residuals and a lot lower fuel economy.

Or alternative is swap to a different car altogether.

I think for 6K you'll struggle to get a decent petrol turbo hatch that isn't the VAG 1.8T so i can only think of the peugeot GTI 180 which i heard were rubbish!

I'm not sure how many people will agree with this, but a decent handling hatch under 6K thats quite tuneable, i'd get a focus ST170; Chip, filter and exhaust should see around 200HP

No doubt idge the focus is a great handling car but not for me. Might take Ant's advice and maybe keep it. Gonna ring midland vw tomoz and ask them about suspension as mine is simply shocking. Ant did you change the suspension on your derv. If so what was it like. I just get the feeling that even if i put coilovers on her, it still wouldn't handle as well as say my old clio 16V for example. That car used to put a smile on my face everytime i drove it.

FK Coilovers and Jabba ARB should make the handling alot better, Midland VW are fitting my Coilovers when i get them:)

Ah evo didn't see look at your sig. I'm from stourbridge, not too far from yourself. So you reckon i would like the car again if i got new suspension.

yea the std suspension is terrible in my opnion, i think changing it for coilovers should make it a lot better. I work in kingwinford just down the road from stourbridge

cupra handles better as it has firmer bushes and stiffer suspension! villan the 1.8t ibiza fr is a fab car and can be an AWESOME CAR with some extra money spent on horses!/BRAKES/suspension but for 6k clio sport is your only option unless you dont mind going old skool like a mk3 cupra???

I think i would like my car a lot more if it had decent suspension, and please someone don't reply with "i love my sports suspension" because in that case you've never driven a decent handling car:lol: My car is booked in at midland vw on saturday morning so i'll see what they have to say.
