Deals on K1's?

Hi, just joined the forum.

I am looking at purchasing a used Cupra K1, and have a deposit down on one.

Just wanted to ask whether anyone has been able to negotiate the price of such a car down?

Dealer has it up for £18k, 08/08 car with 7.5k miles, metallic, with black alloys no other extras.

He was not prepared to budge, and in fact has around 6 K1's of various specs on his books...

You could get a new one through a broker like Broadspeed for nearly that price, plus then attractive manufacturer discounted finance comes into play...

£18202
+£326 for metallic
+£176 for black wheels
+£299 Broadspeed intro fee
=£19003

That's strong money for a 1 year old K1... I'd be looking to deal at £17k max, maybe less for that dealer retail.

Remember, if he won't budge, leave your number, ask him to give you a call if he finds a way to move the price nearer to what you were thinking. He'll be on the phone by the end of the week. If the impossible happened and he wasn't calling you at every opportunity, then there's plenty more around. It's not as if its a short run limited edition.

I thought that that the supply of new K1s had run out, could be wrong though.

£18K is a lot for a year old one, I would seriously look round. I sold a year old Cupra last year when the market was a lot better than now, when the car was 13 months old it had lost over £6K on list price.

I ended up part xing the car in October and the dealer who bought it eventually didn't shift it until March. It probably went for about what I got in part ex for it.

When I had a look at used prices, some dealers just live in dream land, so definately shop around. The K1 does seem to attract a fair bit more than a standard one though, which is strange as many people you talk to wouldn't touch one and prefer the standard Cupra.

As Chris says if you can get one with bluetooth, mainly for the large MFD that gives you a lot more functionality than standard.

Thanks for the info guys, much appreciated!

Have found one of the same spec as the one I have the dep on for £16k, will now look into that one in much more detail.

I thought that the dealer was being a bit greedy by not being interested in any negotiation.

Back in March my local dealer wanted £18,900 for an ex demo K1 (with no extra's) and told me that they would only drop no more than £300. Within 3 days they had dropped the price to £18,500 !!!!

I ended up buying a brand new K1 with a couple of extras for under £18k so keep looking around as I'm sure you'll get a better deal than the one your being offered. If there are any new one's left you'll probably get a better deal on a new one that they need to shift rather than a second hand one that the dealer has funded in a different way and doesn't need to shif as quick.!

when i'm buying i tend to think 'there'll always be another car' so if you feel the price is too high (for you) i would walk away. it's all down to the individual, some folk are happy paying full price for things and/or never want to haggle, some folk are only happy if they get at least something (or a lot) off, depends what bracket you fall into.

i'm a scotsman, so i NEVER pay full price for things like cars [B)]

You seem to be getting there on your own but I would have thought that any deaaler with new stock would be very happy to see you. Used values may be firmer as the drop in new sales has hit trade ins and the supply of newish cars will diminish as the low new sales work through. So it may be a good time for a new buy!

yup, getting there....

Need to decide between an 08/08 Silver with black wheels, and a 08/58 White with black wheels bluetooth, and ipod connector.

Both cars have done around 5-6k miles, but the silver one is £1.5k cheaper )

Silver is my favourite colour for cars, boring I know, but easier to keep looking clean!!

Also if I get the silver one I can put the extra cash to good use for a Revo remap, and Eibach springs )

I have a Revo map on my MkV GTi that I am part exchanging for the K1, found it to make a massive difference.

Expecting the Revo map for the Cupra to be even better as it has the more powerful engine from the start.

So it looks like it will be the silver one then....

Will put up some pics when I take delivery.

White K1's carry a premium over all other colours.....

******* to keep clean though, get mine washed weekly.

TBH I think there are stealers that are turning ordinary cupras into K1's themselves. There is no way to tell if a car is a k1 from the port of entry.

White is the most desireable which is why I went for a red one!!

Go for silver and be different.

btw I picked mine up 5 weeks ago for £16K, 08 plate 9K on clock with bluetooth. (didnt manage to get dealer to budge much but that was cause of the trade on my FR). Wasn't overly fussed as already a good price

With the K1 production now ceased the prices for these second hand is a bit of a lottery. Even when I was looking was seeing as much as a 3K swing in prices of them with the same spec!

Shop around, you wont regret it

well, gone and checked out the 08/58 White one, it is in excellent condition, as it should be having been a demonstrator!

Good deal from Irfan's crew, so will be going with that one )

Revo remap, and Eibach Sportlines to follow shortly after collecting the car....
