My first car was an 02plate gsi tuned by Dastek. Having spent about 3 years on vvoc, there are a couple of variants that are quick. first one is a 2.0 turbo (C20LET) conversion the engine out the cav/calibra. Then theres the best a 2.0turbo (Z20LET) in which the engine from the VXR astra/zafaria etc is used. Normaly Courtenay Sport do these. These can be tuned as you know to 280bhp+ all with fmic etc. After that you have your usual 3.0l conversion which alot of people have used the F28 box 6speed with a quaif lsd. Then theres Courtenays 3.2l conversion which is a bit of a beast, but to heavy and lazy to compete with any turbo car until about 80mph. After that theres the v6 supercharge conversion normaly the 2.5 is used. Turbo'd v6 dont go as the back bank of cylinders run too hot and pop goes the wesiel.
On the road only the turbo'd cars or 3.0ltr can prove pritty darn fast.

I'll see if I can find the person if he's on vvoc see what it was

It wasn't a C20LET. I've seen so many of them round these parts I'm bored to death of them.

This was something bigger.. sounded like a low-down grumble.. V8 without the "sounds like it's going to stall" idle note. Not to mention the sound as it roared past. I've heard it before.. in a Monaro.

Christ almighty.. this is an old school thread dragged from the pits.

We could probably do a 20-man meet from North Essex alone..

Perhaps I'm misunderstanding something here, but are all you fellas claiming to have slept with Claire?

When you decat and remus straight though the v6 engine has those caricteristics* of the v8 sound.

The plot thickens.

I believe the car may have since been resprayed white. And I've also been told it was tuned by a german performance garage. I've spoken about this once or twice to Vauxhall enthusiast mates who think they know the Vectra in question.

Nice, whatever. Wouldn't want any Vauxhall though. 100 cars I'd rather take, personally.

Sure :D

Come meet me from work at Suffolk County Council :D

Seriously though, might be an idea for the hotter months. Clacton seafront/Southend mini-cruise. Nothing heavy just a laugh with a few like-minded people?

I know a good spot along the sea-front. Bring a football and have a kick about. Make an afternoon of it, followed by night-drive to Southend? I dunno.. something like that anyway :)

Why's that, Swiss? :)

Ah. After checking your profile, I see you've got a 1.6. What's so bad about that? :) Come along. I'll get my mate to bring his RS Turbo, you can have a mini race :D (His RS is eerily slow at the moment.. you'd annihilate it me thinks)

Well since mine's a stock 1.6S, I have a sneaking suspicion the only thing slower than me is the... vanilla low-end TDi (88BHP) and the 1.4 ;)

I've seen people mention 300BHP for LCRs, i'm only just in triple figures! :D

Not "local" - but just on the border of essex. Southend's not much of a drive for me - and since it's in a Leon, it's a bloody good drive.

:D That's the spirit!

Well anyway, I'll be sure to make mention of this in the Local Meets section when it's a little warmer on average. Should be a good afternoon/evening.

Yeh, it's hot but at the moment it's up and down. Plus I'm skint :p My car isn't kind on my wallet, petrol wise :D So I'd rather get this thing rolling when I'm a little more flush :p

Hmm, wouldn't really agree with that. In 6th on motorway at 70mph you can quickly hit 120mph. I think only the VXR models are comparable (or the Monaro, of course).

Edit: Sorry, didn't realise you had the 180bhp model. I am talking about my experience with the LCR.
