Lol it was visiting a posh car dealership my sister works at on an industrial estate. Not even a dodgy area. But mine and lots of other cars were down wind of some idiots powder coating the metal work on a new unit. Copped all the overspray! Someone must have lost their job!

Only a week to go till I service her. Going to be a full service with a few extra bits on top and have everything I need ready.

Iridium plugs
Fuchs Titan pro race oil
Cleaning kit for air filter
Pollen filter
Fuel filter
Oil filter

Also going to take the chance to change:

Injector o rings as one is leaking slightly.
Gearbox shim kit.
Newsouth inlet power gasket.
Magnetic sump plug.

Last but most importantly front and rear Eibach anti roll bar kit and new drop links. Excited to see the handling after these are fitted. Should have done this years ago really.

Most general service parts courtesy of Dave of Seremotorsport. Top bloke.

Tell me about it. Be nice to get it all done. Especially the arb's. That will probably it for a while though as the Mrs maternity pay runs out next month.
:-( sad times.

Will wire up the s3 vents and probably be it till the summer apart from keeping her clean.

Didn't have time to drop the subframe out to do the front one so still have that and the drop links to do.

All in all very happy with the day's work

Picked up on a couple of things though.

Exhaust mid section has a slight blow on the join.

Will need new disks and pads on the front soon and will do braided lines while I'm there.

Great work matey, love the drive for perfection with this car.

I think injector 1 is the similar on mine but not leaking as bad, how much are the new o rings? Might have to do this.

Thanks tom really appreciate it. Some way to go yet though.

Mine was not terrible but while I had the mani off I thought I'd nip it in the bud and change the lot. From memory from Dave at Seremotorsport a complete set of 8 was £20 odd.

Ordered all of my wiring bits and bobs for making my s3 loom. Hope to have it all ready to wire up at the weekend.

That will probably be it for a while until the Mrs goes back to work in July after her maternity time off.

This summer will be doing the things picked up on when we serviced, as follows:

Exhaust gasket and new bolts where cat section meets cat back section - slight blow.

Front brakes getting bad - going for ebc ultimax disks and ferodo ds2500 pads and also hel red braided brake lines.

Eibach front anti roll bar and new drop links.

Sorry if its already been covered but can you tell me a bit more about the gearbox shim kit? Price etc?

What exactly is it solving?

Yes not a problem.

The kit itself is basically a large thin metal washer and the black end cap which goes on the end of the gearbox. Costs about £11 from Seremotorsport on the forum so speak to Dave on here.

To change its easiest to take nearside wheel off and splash guard to get proper access. Using a large flat blades screwdriver prize the old cap off, doesn't matter about damaging it as your going to bin it. The spline you can see has back and forth play if you put your finger inside and grip it, will move in and out.... Over time causes whining under engine breaking etc.

All you need to do is un clip the large circlip that runs around the outer edge and take it out. Put in shim in its place and put circlip back in again. Pull the shaft out as far as it goes and the clip will pop back in, eliminating all play happy days.

Then tap new end cap back in. Job done.

I jacked my car up leaning to the offside slightly to prevent gearbox oil leaking out.

Mines a preventative measure as it is not whining or making horrible noises yet but so many people have used this kit to fix issues like this.

Hope that helps.

Good info that mate. I think it's time I ordered this as mine's a little whiney when coming to a stop but it's never been an issue. Would like to get rid of the noise though and for £11 seems like a winner..

Thanks for the info.

My LCR has just turned 70,000 miles now. The gearbox has no whining or untoward noises at all, its just a bit clunky in selecting gears, specifically 1st to 2nd. Ive changed the oil (OEM Seat) and fitted the ali end bushes on the cables but its not really any better.

Will be giving this mod a try, for the price its a no brainer.

Cheers.
