My FR has been through more new bulbs than I care to count! It seems that one of the bulbs blows at least once every 4 months.
Am I alone in this phenomenen?

it seems to go in a pattern for me, right headlight, right side light right tail light, right brake light, then left taillight, left brake light and so on
so far in six months i have had two bulbs blow, first it was the right front dipped beam followed by the rear left tail light. i wonder how many more will go in the next 6!

I always buy new bulbs from a 'power' company online. I always buy Osram so its not the quality of the bulbs, and they're always fitted carefully and cleanly

friend of mine has an Auto, and he is always blowign brake bulbs.. reason for this is he sits on the brake pedal at lights instead of using the handbrake or putting the car in neutral.. he started using neutral and handbrake and no longer has the problem
My missus used to have an Audi A4 (also vag, of course) which always seemed to be moaning about one or other of its bulbs. I remember once it got through three rear sidelight bulbs in two weeks. We thought it must have some sort of fault but the dealer could never find anything wrong with the wiring etc. It was a company car so she just got rid asap when its mileage cap was reached.
My FR (DSG) doesn't seem to have the same problem. Had it since June (I think) and the only bulbs I've replaced have been perfectly fine and replaced out of choice for aesthetics!

Replaced the dipped on both sides in the past month, both Osram Nightbreakers, replaced with the same.
I think they had been in about a year or so, but I do a lot of driving in the early mornings & will always have my lighst on once it starts to get dusky, so I kind of take it as thats the way it is.
Not replaced any other bulbs though

For me in 1.5 years.... i'm constantly changing front fog lights h3's, replaced driver side brake bulb twice, sidelights (now cured with LED bulbs) and now I've my drivers side main bulb out and really can not be bothered to change it, I'd rather just use my horn.
Anyway I'm going to just LED up my car which is just about possible for everything except the full and the dipped. Might get some HID's and projectors fitted to avoid the filament lamps.

I didn't know the horn lit up a dark country road! I'll try that some time!
Only had the O/S inner tail light go on me in the 2.5 years I've had the Leon.

haha! Don't need them, drive by touch on the country lanes, the hedgerows keep me on the tarmac
An excessive number of blown bulbs suggest a possible alternator or voltage regulator issue, higher volts causing higher amps causing 'pop'.
My mates Golf used to go through rear bulbs, but they used to go smoky rather than blow? Apparently that's a common problem with Golfs though.
I've only had to replace a front bulb, gave me a reason to fit some decent lights...

I've had my car for almost 3 years and haven't had to change a bulb yet. Having said that I'll prob have a few blow now
If it is the performance mains lamps, check the small print on the lamp box - it does state that high performance lamps do NOT last has long as standard lamps !!?@@!

You've sort of missed the meaning of the way that the word 'power' has been used. It is there to ensure people understand where I am buying the bulbs from, namely a very well known and well established company.
I state which bulbs I am using in my sig.
Nightbreakers don't last as long as normal bulbs. A few owners on Briskoda are complaining that they are blowing too.

The Nightbreakers are guarenteed with the company I use, so I have sent them back a couple of times when they have blown and receive free new ones direct from Osram which is handy.
The bulb issue however, is not just on the front lights hence my concern.
