Hi
New to this,

On my 3rd Seat now and never had this prob before. The rear drivers footwell is constantly soaking wet. The damp has now spread to the front footwell. Im pretty sure its the door seals rather than the pollen filter from post read previously.

Anyone any ideas how to fix or if its something else?

Cheers Chris

yeah it's the seal between the door and the metal plate that holds all the door bits...

fitted the new VAG sealing cord to all my doors and dry as a bone in there ever since

Leaks from the pollen filter do the front passenger footwell first, then it spreads back to the rear footwell.

It will be your door seals. i did all mine in a day and it stopped the leak im now nice and dry inside. there is a really good quide on here i used to do it, it explains everthing. just type in 'door seals' on the search bar.:p

Get it fixed properly guys, unlike the last owner of my car who though his DIY brown mastic sealant would suffice.
Was a right ball ache to remove it all to make a good base to seal too.

Cheers guys
Just need to wait for a bit better Scottish weather to get it done now.

Cheers again

I am having endless problems with my motor but am determined to set them all straight. My rear passenger footwell is soaked. I presume this is due to the seal between the door and the car?

If so, how much is a new seal? Thanks

Just re-seal the ancillerie panels back on with a good quality silicone sealent (i used clear) that will stop the leaks also take off the seal at the bottom of the doors and clean them properly with soap and water and check that the drain holes in the door are not blocked, trust me it works!!! no more leaking nightmares!!!

Very easy fix. I went to VW and got some black sticky stuff on a roll, £15 (5M) and its enough to re-seal all the doors.

The stuff is called "ADH tape" part number is AKL45000505 £13.38+VAT comes to £15.72

hope it helps ya. Better than trying to use mastic or similar imo. bit fiddly as it sticks to your fingers when applying lol, but less messy.

yeah definitely use the proper sealing cord.

I knew the carpets were wet when i bought my car, but didn't ask the garage to do anything about it as i knew they'd just squirt a load of silicone everywhere and i wanted it done properly, and the cord is less than 30 quid.

The part number for the VAG seal I used is: SAKD49701004R10 BC4.1* 'SEAL CORD'

box holds more than enough for 4 doors. and Robb's right.... does stick to yer fingers... ;)

Yeah, I had to have the bulkhead on mine resealed too.

Result - One dry, foot-spa less Leon :D

While my car was being serviced at Awsome I asked if they could check out my rear passenger footwell to see which door the ingress of water was coming from. It came from front of the front door not the rear part of the front door which is unusual apparently. £25 and it was sorted.

I sealed up my front door a couple of weeks back and have had a heater in the car to help dry the footwell but no luck so far.

I have just checked to door seals again and all is dry in and around the door but I just cannot get the footwell dry....it seems to be getting damper.

Anyone got any ideas???

Hi Chris
I am no expert but have you checked the rear door seals. Since Awesome fixed mine I have been leak free.

Your door seals are probably fully sealed. and the water is getting in from the bulkhead under the scuttle panel. there is a hole there that must of been there from day one leaking!!! there is a thread on here about it and where to find it including photos. try that.
