Nothing wrong with K&N cone filter. Just ppl who over oil them during service. 3 years no MAF failure for me...

i found bypassing the n249 valve increased noise levels quite significantly; i think it is because the dv reacts faster and so the air is dumped at a faster rate?

I did the same. Replaced the whole thing with a 4mm silicone hose. And I agree, I also think the valve reacts more rapid now...
