I've been trying to search for a thread I thought I saw re Turning down the duty of the EGR Valve.

On my previous Seat I disabled the EGR valve in total by restricting the vacuum pipe.

On my current vehicle (09 Golf GT TDI Engine : CBAB) I understand that you can't do the above but you can turn it down considerably via the ECU, the vehicle is shortly going in for it's first non- VW Dealer Service (& the VW Warranty finishes) so I want to turn down or even off the EGR while in for service.

Thanks,

Paul

Paul don't know about these but some research on Briskoda may be useful discussions re. fitting a "restricted hole" gasket --think you can buy them from the stealership not sure

Thanks Nic, Just trying to find a diagram off the net (I've tried many VAG sites) because I'm wondering if my EGR set up includes a HP flow and a LP flow with EGR Cooler. I'ds and also like to understand what conditions it opens and when it closes etc.

Got my EGR turned down by a VAG specialist using VCDS, I think using a procedure I found on this site somewhere. Mine's a 1.9TDI so I'm not sure if VCDS offers equivalent functionality for your engine.

Perhaps a blanking plate would be simpler, with a small hole allowing some flow so the engine management light does not illuminate. Usually just insert the plate, in the form of a thin steel gasket, where the EGR take-off pipe bolts to the exhaust manifold.

Thank you for that, was interesting but it is about PD engines infact Scooter188 askes "Does this work on the new common rail 2.0 tdi" and the thread stops dead.........
