electric windows going down by themselves! NEED FIX

This may sound crazy but the windows in the front, both passanger and driver, go down by themselves when the car is off and not being used. Sometimes the car will sit overnight or for a day or two - the windows will have been up - and when I go to use it they are down. I have the only key to this car so I know it is nobody trying to play a trick. The other day i was heading out to work and when i approached the car i noticed that the windows were down, looked inside and everything was soaked!, really not fun.
Has any1 ever heard of this, is it a common problem and is there a fix? Some1 please help.

If I were you I'd remove the fuses for the electric windows for now so they wont work at all

I had exactly this issue and its due to water ingression in to the Window Motors or Window wires in the doors.

Check your passenger and drivers door first....

I will see if I can find the thread for you.

In the mk3 ibiza, I had the same issue, the windows came down by themselves and sometimes the interior light came on as well (all on the same circuit in the ibiza)

Sure someone had this and it was the central convenience module.

yeah thats generally a hoax the central conveniance module, its almost certainly water in the window regulator/wires!!

Strange time to reply i know, but dinner aint ready and i had the same problem a year ago. When i first got my car me and the Mrs washed it and she got water into the switches for the windows and mine went down 2 or 3 times.
I took the fuse out and when it dried up I put them back it. Its not good when you arrive back into multi story and all your windows are down 3 inch. Good luck

Happy to help dude! I always try and catch these posts as I did tons and tons of research when I had the problem in the Mk3 ibiza, I bet you its water ingression tho!!!

I had the same fault it turned out to be a microswitch on the lock its self it is a common fault water get,s in to it and shorts i had to take it out and dry it thoroughly seems fine now . just got to dry the inside of the car out now .

Pressing and holding the unlock switch

Hi,
I thought I had this problem as well, but have only had one incident of coming out and finding both front windows down. The SEAT dealer suggested that it could be down to pressing and holding the unlock button, and as my keys usually sit in my rather full jeans pocket this seems pretty likely to me. I did not know the remote lock could do this, so will be leaving my keys on the sideboard when not required, and I will wait and see if the situation repeats itself.
