rihto chaps and chappetes my 1.4 is on her last legs and with having 1ncb under my belt i think its tym for an upgrade:D, ive looked at getting a gti but tbh theres not many good nik ones about so ive decided im gonna drop a 2.0 8v in my 1.4s, now what im wondering is that if my current gearbox is going to bolt straight on ? will my drive shafts fit ? and would i need to modify the wiring ??? any help appreciated :)

your gearbox & driveshafts will not fit. Your wiring will need throwing in the bin.

I think that with 1years NCB under your belt it's tym you learned to spell.

Don't waste your time money & effort on the 1.4 'shell' as so much will need to be changed you might as well buy the nicest 8v you can. It will be cheaper.

3rd'd here, you'd need to spend more than the cost of an 8v to get the conversion so its just not worth it. save yourself time and hassle and go and buy a gti 8v

Converting a 1.4 would cost more to insure than an original 2l 8v. Its because it would be seen as a heavily modded car, keep the 1.4 going uptil a decent gti pokes its head up then grab it. Its what i did :)
