Mines currently covering the drive in oil, wish i'd never bought it.
i have had my boc for around 6 weeks now and gave it a whole egnine oil top up (1 litre) twice :\ even thought i have done 5000 miles in it should it be drinking this much ???
Also maybe it's time to consider how much people may be pushing these engines![]()
My thoughts exactly. Brings it back to the running in question too. The idea of thrashing it from day one does not sit well with me, but I am an old f*rt!
anybody remember having to run an engine in?
part throttle, low loads etc for first 1k, engine oil & filter changed then steadily build up to 'race' mode.
thought not, we now expect to use 'em straight out of the box.
The manager did say that they will drain and weigh it after the 500 miles as well. TBH I was without the car for 12 weeks the last time so if it happens again no worries there Im used to it. I would want a complete lump as if the bores are worn I really dont want a new cylinder block and original ancillaries, I want a new lump including all parts not a mish mash of partsthats def not right mate - we are replacing an engine in a cupra at the moment for using alot less than that. the guys are right tho its a long winded process and there will need to be data collected, the way we have to do it is weigh the oil, then make sure its at the right level, send u on ur merry way for a few hundred miles and then weigh again. hopefully this helps, just bear in mind u could potentially be without ur car for a while if seat approve the replacement of engine parts or a complete engine, and being 100% honest......they are never the same once they have been ripped apart. id push for a new engine if u can mate. to put it in perspective my cupra still has its original 1litre oil top up in the boot, i'm on just over 20k and never 'ran it in'....im like anyone who bought a cupra. i thrashed the granny out of it...so dont listen to that total crap haha! all the best mate
