Apologies haven't been on here for ages.
Still haven't got to the bottom of it mate. Thing likes boost leaks etc seem to make it more evident in the sense that it happens more frequently. But still no answer to it.

I have however had the code for maximum torque limit exceeded a few times after it has hapoended so am now working on the presumption that that has something to do with it.

Read somewhere on the vortex site that quite a few goofs were experiencing this after a remap and they put is down to pushing too much boost. I think a few of them reticifed it by dialling there actuator but up.
 
my vag laptop had 18 faults ,, cured 14 of them mostly due to to earth faults under battery and bits and bobs , 4 left to of them point to throttle problems .. ,, think I have same prob as you ... my vag specialist guy carnt figure it out . it drove fine yesterday and boosted at 26 etc ,, but today boosted at 5 max and cut of every time I went over 2.5 k revs it cut out
 
I'm not 100% on the 1.8t mapping but I believe, it uses Maf calc's to control boost, so potentially a maf going bad?

My problem is a bit different.....it doesn't limit boost like you described. It basically kills all throttle response so if I try and drive I can't....I have to coast to the side of the road....or flick the key off and on and then it's fine.

Be interesting to see what your guy comes up with.

anyhow he says I need a new throttle assembly and he found a split air pipe under my manifold
 
I have much the same problem. The EPC light comes on but I have limited power. Switch ignition off/on - back to normal. It happens in slow urban stop/start driving. Garage checks reveal nothing.
 
car is finally fixed , found lots of cable damage due to water getting under the skid plate where the ecu is
lots of cables where very corroded , replaced about 3 meters of cables , if I found cheap wiring loom I would of replaced the whole lot ... , now my car works , temp guage works , outside temp works, climate control now works the lights on dash boot guage etc now come on when keys does its first click stage
 
beechey, your problem sounded like mine, when boosting the car would splutter and die. basically the crank position sensor was faulty

when the problem arised id get the EPC light and the car would tick over at 1300rpm
 
Epc light

Hi there, my epc light came on twice, it was orange and I stopped and turned the car off and back on again and it was fine. I took it to the dealership and they are telling me I need a new Turbo? The car is only 3 years and 4 months old and only has 12695 miles on it! They want £900.00 to put a new turbo in it. I called customer care and they have opened a case to see if they will give me a contribution towards the cost. Does this sound like it would be a turbo? I find it hard to believe that is what it needs, they also told me they need to do further investigations on the car as it may also need a EC unit?! Can anyone tell me if I am being taken for a ride or is this something to likely to happen to an 11 plate car with 12695 miles on it. Its a seat Ibiza 1.2 tsi copa. Thanks!
