There is one button marked ESP where the normal TCS button is. It turns both on and off. I have have tried it on and off on the same corners, gears etc. Holds the car in position better. I want to know if it is still worth fitting a strut brace when you have ESP? I don't drive really hard myself (too old) but I like the better handling option. I got ESP as I had read it improves control on snow etc. and lets you get around where other FWDs might struggle

Usually features like that actually perform worse in the snow because they work on the basis of there being at least some grip. I know ABS makes your stopping distances dramatically longer in snow/extreme ice conditions as the build up of snow in front of a locked wheel slows you quicker.

Wow. That is an interesting thought! Why is it that us older drivers remember the black art of cadence braking being promoted by police etc. for bad conditions (those that are too young not to have had a car without ABS it is human ABS, by puming the pedal on and off and releaseing the locked wheels.)

Anyway, getting to the point... I entered a corner and the back end started to go, so I countersteered and accelerated as you do in a fwd car. Trouble is, the TCS saw that the front wheels were turning faster than the rear wheels, and so assumed I was wheelspinning, so it cut the power. The net result is that the backend continued coming round and I had a trip across the grass!

had exactly the same happen to me, except mine spun into a car parked on the side of the road :( result was a written off fabia vrs and a complete loss of faith in tcs! Never drive with it on anymore in my new car (ibiza FR). still pretty shook up from it tbh might get some rear spacers for the FR make doubley sure it doesnt happen again!

oh P.S sorry for grave digging this thread only just seen the date now but ive typed it so its going up!
