hi, have been looking into upgrading my exhaust but thay all seem to be so much bloody money! so had a look at just putting a de-cat on as thay retail for about £100. has anyone done this and if so is there any power increase and does it sound any better! i dont want it to loud but a bit of a roar would be nice!

hello mate fitting a decat pipe usually gives you a more deem rumble and a bit louder with the odd bit more popping?

I seen those £100 pipes to, they not got a cat so won't pass a MOT but should give good gains and a nice sound due to the design and free flow :)

I read a few stories they bring the EML light on to due to not having a cat, not sure if this is due to incorrect air flow or temperature...read it can be mapped out on a stage 2 tho.

i have a decat and 3" DP and it does give a nice sound and the turbo spool up is quicker, My EML light has come on but has not affected the performance of the car and it can be mapped out on a stage 2. There are alot of opinions for and against decat's mine is go for it!

I've got a de-cat on my LC but i got the part custom made so it comes off the turbo then where the cat is i a had a straight pipe fabricated with flanges on at both ends so i could just unbolt it and bolt in the standard cat which i got flages on as well as i didn't want to keep taking it off the turbo in case one of the threads snapped off. It does give a much louder roar but i do have a Milltek full system, it does sound louder but its still not too loud on mototways inside the car like some exhausts can be.

in my opinion and many others, dont do it. sounds way louder, droning noise that annoys you even at low revs or long journeys.

no back pressure for the turbo and these small turbos dont like that. my car actually was actually slower. when i put the sports cat in could tell the difference straight away. sounded nicer aswell instead of being booming loud.

car didnt run good with the decat maybe because of the lambda sensors and fueling, could tell something wasnt right and took it straight off. most tuners or specialists will tell you to put a sports cat in, pick up a decat pipe and weld in a sports cat cheaper and does the same job. no emisions problems, no over fueling, doesnt sound like a chavy corsa

is it then MOT passable! fair play on the de-cat comment but where do u then get the sports cat to weld in! is it not better just to get a sports cat and just swap for original cat!!

You can buy the 200cell sports cat to weld in from ebay for another £100, just make sure you get the 2.5" one to match the downpipe :)

where abouts did you have this all done! did it work out cheaper then just changing the rear of the exhaust i.e getting a blue flame or miltek

I have recently put a decat pipe (£100 ebay job) onto my 180 LC. I have a Milltek Cat back 2.5'' system too

In terms of performance I have noticed a gain. It is far more free flowing especially higher up the revs with far less back pressure.

The noise is louder than standard. Yours may not be as bad if you are keeping the standard exhaust. I have a non resonated system. You get a nice burble on tick over and low revs. You do get extra vibration and a low hum in lower revs but enerally under 3500 rpm you won't notice too much until you put your foot down then it can be quite loud. It still doesn't sound as horrific as those chavvy Fiesta Zetec S or Saxo VTR's though which is good.

I have put my first lambda sensor in and left the second one tied up in the small black box and I have NOT had my EM light come on and the running of the car is good.

I really don't like too much noise and it may be a little much for me but it isn't to obad and you can safely drive into your street without anyone moaning or noticing you :D

This ebay joby is it the scorpion one? im thinkin of getting this to as its cheaper than a full downpipe decat at 400+ and its easier to take out swap mot time?

would you recommend it? does it look ok quality?
