Quick question:-

What is the best getaway-from-the-line RPM?

It's definately better without the ESP (TCS) on as you don't suffer the sapping-all-the-power away problem. (I always find it better to use the throttle to control wheelspin as the TCS will always take away more than necessary.)

Has anyone experimented the best way for a fast launch?

3k, 3.5k, 4k?

Dump the clutch FAST? Or bring it up more controlled to get the power down smoothly with no traction issues?

The best way have found is hold between 3.5k and 4k, then feed the clutch in to get it rolling, once moving ******* floor it, and your away. If you snap the clutch you will get lots of wheen hop,and that horrible judder, if not that, you will sit there in a cloud of smoke. I tried gentle starts, at 2k, to get moving then letting rip, but this was a couple of hundreths of a second slower (think it was about a 15.6 iirc, but cant be bothered to hunt the slips out.

just wondering did you mean hundredths or tenths of a second?
 
A bit of controlled wheelspin is not necessarily a bad thing in this case, so long as you're moving forward and not just sat there watching your tyres paint the road!
 
i found the best way to get speed up is to leave the traction control of , i was timing 0-60 times with my mate , and it got to 60 quicker with the wheels spinning ,
 
I don't think anyone is suggesting a full-bore launch with TCS/ESP on. It just won't work.

I find 4kish revs and controlled but aggressive clutch dump is best. I can really get some acceleration up in this manner.
 
Are you guys running remapped LCR's?

Admittedly I haven't done and proper launches. But I find 1st and usually second a write off full for pelt
 
If you dump the clutch you'll get no where fast, especially once remapped! Definately esp off and then once moving a bit floor the throttle, curse of a front wheel drive car with a turbo unfortunately.
 
what about the trouble after you've had a good start. As it's virtually impossible to not get wheel spin in 1st and second? Or do you just not use full throttle in these circumstances, or are the P-Zeros really that ****??
 
The throttle isn't an On / Off switch, so you would feed in the power so you don't spin the wheels more than you need to. Once moving it's less of an issue, so second gear needs less throttle control than the initial take off.
 
SMOOTH : thats about right, 225:spot on, if its remapped its throttle control and junk the P-Zero's!!!
 
Surely this is just one of those things that you get used to with the car? When I first got my LCR I used to get wheel spin all the time. Now I can pull away pretty damn fast with nothing but a little squeeking from the wheels. It's such a quick process I can't see how anyone has time to think about what your doing. You just develop a feel for how high to rev and how quickly you can let the clutch out without painting the tarmac with rubber.

Interestingly I drove my mates R32 the other weeked and the torque on that is available much further down the rev range so I was getting wheel spin even with 4wd. Very different power delivery to the LCR.
 
Pirelli P-Zero Rossos are good tyres. I can spin in 2nd on Potenza RE050a's so I don't think my tyres are the problem.

Just the turbo on-boost in low gears is always gonan give you a surge of spin, UNLESS you learn to control it with throttle/clutch action.

Ah i just get muddled up with tenths and hundreds..the way it is to me...
Best run standard 14.9
Worst 15.6

Added a hell of a lot more stuff now so those times are irrelevant to the car now anyway.
 
Grrr... Never tried a 1/4, but in my slo-poke standard LC state.. I'm sure I could run it quicker!
