There is an option on the Infotainment screen setting menu on my TSI FR to have the screen go blank after 10 seconds and only come on again when you move your hand towards it. You probably wouldn't use it while in SatNav mode but if just listening to the radio (or audio books like I do) you don't really need to see a display all the time.

The problem seems to be that the feature works fine when set but resets itself every time the ignition is switched off.

Any body else had the same problem?

Sounds like my GF.......
Never noticed this feature tbh , seem to spend more time looking at the road, especially at night

Bit of a pointless feature

What the GF or the sat nav :D

I think it's quite useful, especially as the mk3 has no way to easily and quickly dim the display ( the mk2 had a thumbwheel, the mk3 you have to go through the infotainment system to dim the display)
Great on a fast dark road, as your night vision is ruined by the glaring bright display screen being on

Used to have a feature on previous Citroens , press a button only the speedo remained illuminated. As you say, ideal on dark fast roads. Current obsession with 'menus' rather than a simple button or thumbwheel is depressing.

Ah the only feature that Saab ever had which was remotely linked to fighter jets, despite what those really bad 80's TV ads wanted us to believe.
