I have been working with a guy called Mike from Hughes Engineering, he asked me to help him develop a removable, adjustable rear strut brace for the Leon. Over the last 2 months I have been measuring and test fitting bits for him and now he is about to send me the final product to make sure it fits and works ok.

No prices yet (won't be expensive) but who'd be interested in one - judging by the amount of Cupra and Cupra R owners who fit front braces, this should be a popular upgrade and effective too, by all accounts it really tightens up the back end - I will report back on my findings after some 'spirited' runs!

I will be posting lots of pics of it and a fitting guide soon too - this brace requires NO drilling to fit. He has already got Octavia and Fabia braces done, here's a pic of the Fabia brace attached.

Please register your interest in one here. If we can get a group buy going the price will drop, probably need about 10 people minimum.

Dependent on price, I would look at this (LCR).

Can the difference be felt during road driving? I have the lower front brace and that has made a definite noticeable improvement! Will the rear one be equally as effective?

Cannot really tell from the picture how the brace sits in place. Can you ellaborate?

Thanks.

If....

It can be removed quickly for those trips to the tip...........
Doesn't look bling (hate chrome braces)
and costs less than £60 then count me in on the first order

Lets face it
It can't do any harm bracing the rear

looks like it bolts to about the area of the strut tops. not 100% sure where it'd bolt to without drilling (but i've never looked)

I'm interested too, I'm broke and theres all this stuff coming out!!

Semi-interested here. Depends on how it fits, and price really. And if it makes a big difference. Only problem I see myself having is fitting my ice install into the boot as well!

All will be revealed soon folks, I believe he can offer different finishes yes, I asked for a polished finish as the bar is stainless steel and I wanted a 'dressed' finish. It fits in quite high at the strut tops, just below where the rear seat belts anchor to. Can't comment on much else as haven't got it yet, but won't be long, less than a week I think.

Sounds interesting. Although i wouldn't think about buying till after my pay review as depending in how it goes i'm hoping to get a new car next year.

I believe that someone on here once fitted a rear strut brace in the leon (it needed driling though) and it did have a big effect from all accounts. You can feel how lose the rear of the Leon is while reversig over humps slowly (coming out of my drive). Can hear the back end creak. All hatchbacks tend to have very low rigidity in the rear so a rear strut brace tends to have a bigger impact than a front one.

hmmm...look forward to seeing the finished product and its performance!
