Any ideas how to ruduce the inevitable?
It has started feeling notchy going into 2nd from cold. It improves after a couple of times up and down the box and perfect after about 5 minutes of driving. Its had the gearbox shim mod and fresh oil put in about 11 months ago when it had a new (LUK) clutch. I drive the car respectfully but it has done 165k now.
Any additives etc i can use to help?
Its a 2004 Cupra 150tdi with a 6 speed.

Cheers all.

VW gearboxes are often a bit notchy into second for some reason. Think you might have to live with it. At least it's only temporary

Dont worry about it, everyone has that problem more or less...i had it on my 5 spd Ibiza mk3 cupra for the last 100 000 km, and that gearbox is still running.
I also have that on my Leon FR 6spd.

Hi Rich, have tried to reset the linkage ???? may be worth a try
Search the Forge Motorsport website under 'quick shifters', choose the quick shifter then open the download - it's simple to do :D

Mine has always been notchy when cold, mostly 2nd and ocassionally 3rd. The only time it has been smooth when cold was when I had a bearing repair on my gearbox and it was super smooth for about 7000 miles and then gradually went back to notchy when cold.

Cheers for all your replies :)
It seems to have got a little better in the last few days (strange).
Ill keep it going for now and see how it goes.
No biggy, its just that the car had a hard life until i baught it. I like to keep on top of my motors.
