Has anyone ever fitted an aftermarket wheel or in particular an Isotta as the dont seem to list Seat Ibizas! Would another VAG model wheel fit or does anyone know the size of wheel I would need?

Most aftermarket car sites will stock nice Steering Wheels, ie: MOMO etc. These will also have for sale compatible Hub Kits for the SEAT column/spline.

I've had a quick scan for Issota Steering Wheel Hub/Boss adaptor Kits, while there are a few for other car manufactueres, there's none for SEAT / VW unfortunately. Appears to be quite a unique brand?

EDIT: However, just having another search - You could buy a compatible Simoni Boss Kit from these guys. They appear to cater for Issota, with their multi-holed kits ;)

Note that you'll end up with a big steering wheel thats sits alot closer to your body, due to the extra length of the Boss Kit in-between the wheel and Column spline (will feel like driving a double-decker bus!).

Am I right in saying when you fit an aftermarket steering wheel, you lose the airbag?

I cant see how the advantages (if any) of fitting a wheel with no airbag has over the benefits of having a standard wheel with airbag. Or am I missing a point here

You do indeed (in most cases) lose the airbag. Aftermarket wheels are Alloy, lightweight items. More for asthetics than safety ;)

You might get a more expensive Wheel that comes with airbag, but Im not aware of many!?

In my previous car I had an aftermarket Wheel fitted ALONG WITH a "Snap-Off" kit. So the Steering Wheel would actually snap-off, and then I could take it in the house with me when I parked the car up! Bit like they do with the F1 racing cars! :D

Great security feature! (the car wasn't travelling very far without a steering wheel). ;)

Bit like Mr Bean then :D

Cost me an arm and a leg for the complete Kit - probably the price of Mr Beans car! It also had like a dead-bolt that you released with a Key. Therefore even if the Two independant catches on either side were released in a freak accident, the dead-bolt would prevent the Wheel from coming off completely.

Also helped prevent someone trying to steal the wheel if i had popped into the petrol station or whatever. ;)

Would you rather hit your head off a piece of solid Grade A42 steel, or a nice soft nitrogen filled airbag? I know which id prefer and its the less death option....

To be honest, I couldnt give a s**t any more - If my head is intended to look like a pizza in a head on collision, when it smashes against a Steel steering wheel with no airbag, then so be it! ...whatever fate dictates!

Or you could survive and live to fight another day. With all the modern technology to stop you ending up looking like a half made haggis after a crash?

Errrr, I also dont wear a seat belt when I drive, so perhaps I'm asking for a snapped neck also. Don't think the airbag is going to do much without the technology detecting the tensioners in the seat belt tighten? .... cos Im not wearing the seat belt in the first place!!!

Honestly, the thought of going through the windscreen tomorrow doesn't phase me - Ive had enough of society and this fcuking world anyway! Bring it on I say.

EDIT: Over and out !

Not wearing a seat belt is breaking the law, and incredibly daft. If you have suicidal tendencies, then please do them yourself and without involving any or us.

OK, so how is not wearing a seat belt affecting you???
I drive safely, I HAVE Insurance, I BUY road tax, I HAVE an MOT......

How many motorists today drove over 70mph on the motorway/or 30 in a residential area? How many drove after a few pints? How many dont have Insurance? How many cars are not fit for our roads/death traps? How many drive dangerously with little regard for other road users/pedestrians?....and you have a moan about me not wearing a seatbelt, in a fully legal car, fully insured - get real! lol.

The only person it affects is myself. It interferes with no-one else in any way, and it doesn't make me a threat to other road users!

Seatbelts are mandatory by law, and subject to a 3 points and a fine..... And i dont drive after a few pints and its worrying that I might crash into you knowing you might die because they were not wearing the correct safety equipment .

IE:Seatbelt

Edit: Way to edit you're posts to make you look better! I applaud you!

this is the most retarded bunch of posts I have ever heard on a car owners forum. Someone describing there mortality over the choice of changing a steering wheel or not. Simple change it and crash you more than likely will die, scratch that u will die if u arnt wearing a seatbelt. Lets face it the chances of crashing a car at low speeds and hurting yourself arnt high, but being hit or crashing into something fast are high, hence u = fool not wearing a seatbelt.

Back to the steering wheel, yes u can change it and no non of us have fitted it as they are dangerous and you get very minimal benefit.
